2 weeks and the connection quality is terrible, despite being less than 20 feet from the router. I have high pings while playing games and am constantly bumped off servers. Often while on the web, pages won't load http://searchnetworking.techtarget.com/answer/Fixing-CRC-errors-Know-your-wireless-router-coverage-area-boundaries and will time-out. It may be fine for a while and then my comp drowns in lag and I get dropped. I have an RaLInk Turbo Wireless Lan Card. The performance is the same weather or not Windows firewall is up. The number of frames recieved succefully Vs the number recieved with CRC errors is sometimes 2:1. What could be causing this? are there settings that i could alter that would reduce the number of CRC https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-hi-crc-errors-with-ralink-nic-arrrgh.940706/ errors? Banquo, Aug 4, 2010 #1 Sponsor JohnWill Retired Moderator Joined: Oct 19, 2002 Messages: 106,414 Well, I'd be looking at the router's configuration first. Let's see this to start. Download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework. For machines with no Internet connection, download this NET Framework 3.5 Full Package on another machine and transfer it with removable media to the problem machine. To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here. All of our laptops are set to prefer http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1488756 the 5GHz band.I reset all the statistics, rebooted the WAPs (about 30 mins ago) and started collecting the 2.4GHz and 5GHz CRC Errors. What is a high amount of errors? I know its based on traffic. But say in a 24hr period, what is a high amount of errors? They are indicative of something being wrong, even one crc error fix needs your attention. Most likely scenario if you have CRCs is something physically wrong your cabling. A high number would be upwards of 1000 but that is all time based. i.e. how long did it take you to notice? If it took 2 weeks, you might see 100000 CRCs!Either way, if you have them, address them because something is wrong. There is no acceptable threshold. Just my opinion.Cheers,DS 0 Tabasco OP Mr. Liquid Bread Jan 31, 2014 at 6:11 UTC I agree with JollyRoger. CRC errors indicate that there was a problem with that connection's ability to communicate or receive data. This could be caused by any type of interference. Noise, bad pair, bad equipment, etc. On a stable, well maintained LAN, you should indeed see zero errors. That's because you're in control of that network and all of it's components. It's a stable and static environment (typically). With that being said, if you look at the router interface of a T1, you'll typically see CRC errors. Over a
