The message says: CRC FAILED. Unexpected end of archive. Total errors: 2 And since then all of the RAR files that I just downloaded won't open, and keep giving me the CRC failed message. I then tried several options with WINZIP, STUFFIT, MAC PAR DELUXE, and it still give me the message that the file is broken. I understand that probably if it's only 1 or 2 then that certain file may be corrupted, but it happened to all the files that I just recently downloaded since yesterday. I then tried to unzip the ZIP files and it works perfectly. The only problem is on the RAR files. Can someone help me to find the solution to this? Appreciate your help. I've spoken with a tech specialist at Apple and he couldn't help. He said it was probably something with the software I was using, but since I have UnRarX on my macbook pro and i
OSX port of the RAR program, fromhttp://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm. Decompress the downloaded file. Open the terminal and drag the file named rar from the decompressed folder to the terminal window. Then make sure there's a space, then type "r" http://passionsofpavan.blogspot.com/2012/08/fix-damaged-rar-file-and-crc-error-mac.html (without the quotes). Then make sure there's another space. Then drop the file you want repaired onto the terminal window (it'll give the path and name of the file). Then make sure there's another space, and type "Users/yourname/Desktop" or http://thedailybuggle.com/forum/fix-crc-failed-error-when-extracting-rar-file-510.html wherever you want the fixed file placed. It may be easier to just drag and drop the folder where you want it placed onto the terminal window again so there's no chance at typos. Then hit "return" and the crc error repair scan will start. if the file has a recovery record, it will say that it was found almost immediately. Then it goes about repairing the file. Depending on the size of the file, it may take a couple minutes. Note that the file will have the prefix "fixed" appended to the beginning of the filename. You'll need to delete that once the repair process has completed before you attempt to join the files again. posted by Pavan crc error mac @ Tuesday, August 21, 2012 8 comments 8 Comments: At 12:30 AM, rajesh said... External hard drives are just one of the many data storage options available to consumers, and they're typically pretty easy to configure with both Windows and Mac computers. If Mac users find their computer no longer recognizes their external hard drive, they may be able to resolve the matter without extensive Mac repairs. At 2:46 AM, jacob spears said... So the file will be checked and compared with the CRC data when downloaded and gives an error if the information is different or doesn't match with the original. Usually this problem can be fixed by downloading the files once again and extracting it but this is not 100% the solution as it helps only in case the download file is corrupted. They are still some more checks can be done to fix the problem further as follows, -> CRC error can also come up if you have entered a wrong password for the encrypted .rar file. So make sure if you have given the right password for the file when extracting it. Double-check if you have pressed the Caps lock key. -> There is a built-in function available in WinRAR which can help to bypass the CRC errors. Right click on the RAR file and select the option "Extract Files" which will open a General window now search for the option Miscellaneous -> Select the option "Keep broken files" which will save the data even if there is a CRC data error but most of the time the files won't work. So it's better you download the file again and check the same. -> Still there are many alternatives available other than WinRAR you can try extracting the same file with 7-Zip, RAR Expander, WinZip, ExtractNow etc. -> If you are not able to extract the data still then there is a serious issue with that file which cannot be recovered anymore. Just search
