I am using a LITE-ON DVD Drive and NEC DVD Drive (IDE) along with a Samsung SATA Harddrive. They were working fine until today when I tried to burn a CD and I receieved the above error from Nero. I get it the same error from other burning programs as well, and even when I run disc simulations. I have the Nero error log if that is at all helpful. I do not believe the drive is faulty as it is relatively new. Is there any other possible answer to this? Thanks. I'm just not sure what I should do with the computer set up I have. But here goes.... For the past couple of months I've been trying to get my machine to burn DVDs, ever since I became seriously infected with malware, I desperately need to back up my hard drive. So I got a https://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20090701115125AA9tYTj local repair shop to fit me with a DVD writer when the repaired my computer, seemingly a good deal. Until i realize they had mistakenly put a DVD rom into my machine instead of a DVD writer. Doh So I took it back and they swapped it for the correct drive and fitted a Pioneer DVD-RW 111 D. But now I can't get that to work either! It's really annoying me and I feel like throwing the whole lot out of the window with myself not far https://forums.techguy.org/threads/dma-driver-error-crc-error.558028/ behind it! I'm using Nero and some 8x DVD-R and I don't get why it keeps saying "DMA-driver error, CRC error Burn process failed at 8x (11,080 KB/s)" every time I try to write a disk. Why is it so complicated trying to do something as simple as burning onto a DVD Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I have a problem when burning a cd with the DVD writer. I will get a DMA-driver error, CRC error. I am using a 40-conductor cable, and set it as master (secondary cable). Could it be the 40-conductor cable that is causing this problem? Do i need an 80-conductor cable? Thanks in advance. Aug 17, 2007 #1 AlbertLionheart TechSpot Chancellor Posts: 2,026 If it always reports a driver error you need to eliminate this first. Check the device manager and make sure it is not showing the drive as non-functional (Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager). If it shows a yellow ? the click to reinstall the drivers for it. Windows provides the drivers for optical drives. An 80 core cable might be the problem but this depends on the drive. Can you borrow one to test it with? Final option is that the drive is faulty.
