I can connect using sqlplus but not with Sql Developer. I checked tnsnames.ora and listener.ora everything looks fine. Listener is also started. I can always reinstall and see. But I codeigniter database error thought better inquire the cause. Regarding the home page. This is the address that comes up in browser. Localhost:8080 http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex I did a netstat to see whether there is any port conflict for 8080, but that port is not in use. It is practically a FAQ on the XE Oracle forum. Firstly, can you connect to Oracle using sqlplus user/pass If so, Oracle is up an running (which appears to be your situation, but may not be for a future reader with a similar problem). If not, you can try sqlplus / as sysdba startup Once Oracle is up, check that the listener can see the Oracle instance by sqlplus user/pass@xe If not, then either the listener is not up, or the

I checked it, the browser opened a local website, but this website does not exists. So I am simply stuck here. I tried 10g first, I uninstalled it and tried 11g. I always http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7901928/oracle-10g-express-and-11g-express-db-homepage-is-not-showing-up get a non-running webpage. I tried it because I saw in some answers that 10g was not supported by Windows 7 32 bits and that 11g was. Each time, I checked if all the Oracle services were up and they are. I also checked if the port 8080 was used and it is not. Also, disabling the Windows firewall gives nothing. I know nothing about Oracle so please give me some links if you are talking about Oracle specific things. If you don't know the problem with the website, could you tell me which service is supposed to start the website and were is its logfile so that I could see the error? Thanks In a side note, in the project install guide, I am supposed to run "sqlplus system@xe" after Oracle is installed. When I do it, I have to enter the password and then I get "ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor". Each questions about that error was about "it worked fine for a week and now no more" which is clearly not my situation, so this is not my question, just a side note. oracle oracle10g oracle11g share|improve this question asked O

DistroUbuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot ORACLE -> Nothing happens when clicking on "Start Database" Hello, I've installed Oracle XE yesterday (forcing architecture, cause i am using amd64), it was working fine until i reboot my computer. At the beginning i wasn't able to start because i was getting an error: - "Operation failed. my_user is not a member of 'dba' group." So, i went to System -> Administration -> Users and Groups -> Manage Groups -> (selected 'dba') -> Properties, and checked my user. But now, when i click on "Start Database", the cursor stay 'waiting' and after some time it goes back to the pointer and nothing happens. On "Run SQL Command Line" i get "SP2-0640: Not connected" and in "Go To Database Homepage": - "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:1234" (When installing i chose port 1234) Now i cant uninstall it (I've installed it through dpkg for forcing architecture, and opening the .deb package i don't get the "uninstall" button) What can I do? Have anyone had this issue before? Thanks in advance. Last edited by micael3000; January 14th, 2011 at 05:32 PM. Reason: fixing informations.
