SQLCODE=-204, SQLSTATE=42704, DRIVER=4.17.29 when running JPA app with DB2 service? Question by Ali Manji ( 1) | Aug 07, 2015 at 03:53 PM bluemixdb2sqldbjpa When running sqlcode=-727, sqlstate=56098 a JPA web app using the Java DB Web Starter boilerplate, I see the following error: org.apache.openjpa.persistence.PersistenceException: "JPZOCCEO.CUSTOMER" is an undefined name.. SQLCODE=-204, SQLSTATE=42704, DRIVER=4.17.29 {prepstmnt -1531621355 SELECT t0.custno, t0."ADDRESS", t0.country, t0."NAME" FROM Customer t0 } [code=-204, state=42704]SQLCA OUTPUT[Errp=SQLNQ1F7, Errd=-2145779603, 0, 0, 0, -10, 0] "JPZOCCEO.CUSTOMER" is an undefined name.. I think the source of the issue is that JPZOCCEO is the username generated for VCAP_SERVICES to bind with the DB2 service. But the DB2 service has a schema of VXKJGYCT. So it really should be VXKJGYCT.CUSTOMER. Only a hunch. Any ideas? the environment the error may appear slightly differently, but it will be similar to: ** ERROR: com.ibm.db2.jcc.am.io: DB2 SQL Error: SQLCODE=-204, SQLSTATE=-42704, SQLERRMC=CONTRO, DRIVER=3.57.82 ** ERROR: Invalid datbase, https://developer.ibm.com/answers/questions/206915/why-am-i-getting-db2-error-undefined-name-sqlcode.html XFRANGO is empty Cause There are many potential causes for similar-looking DB2 errors. NOTE: This Technote *only* relates to the scenario where the error contains the codes: SQLCODE=-204, SQLSTATE=-42704 In this scenario, there are several possible causes for the errors: Scenario #1 - DB2 database server is not using 'Oracle Compatibility Mode'. TIP: In this scenario, the http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21681892 error message will typically contain the word 'USER_TABLES' Scenario #2 - DB2 database client (installed on the Controller application server) has "Enable operating system security for DB2 objects" enabled. Scenario #3 - DB2 database has not been created correctly. Diagnosing the problem IMPORTANT: It is vital that you check the exact 'SQLCODE' and 'SQLSTATE' error numbers, to help you troubleshoot the root cause. Make sure that you check the error code reference numbers precisely. If they are different, then search IBM Technotes for different/specific advice for your error code. Resolving the problem Scenario #1 Delete the database. Re-configure the DB2 database server to use 'Oracle Compatibility Mode'. Re-create the DB2 database. Re-try. For more information, see separate IBM Technote #1613531. Scenario #2 There are two different methods you can choose: (1) Uninstall DB2 client (from the Controller application server), and re-install DB2 client. During the installation wizard do NOT enable "Enable operating system security for DB2 objects" or (2) Add the group " Everyone" to the Windows security local gr

This reference will review SQL return code processing and common SQL error condition codes you may encounter in DB2. SQL Error Code Lookup Retrieving SQL Return Code Information & Messages COBOL programs executing SQL statements communicate with DB2 via a Working Storage area called the db2 sql error SQL Communications Area (SQLCA). When DB2 executes SQL statements, it returns the results of the operation into the SQLCODE and SQLSTATE fields in the SQLCA. SQLCODE provides key information about the success or failure of SQL statement execution. If the SQLWARNO field in the SQLCA contains 'W', DB2 has set at least one of the SQL warning flags (SQLWARN1 through SQLWARNA). These flags provide additional info about execution of specific types of SQL. Prior to DB2 V8, COBOL programs could call a subroutine called DSNTIAR that would convert a SQLCODE in the SQLCA into more a detailed text message with diagnostics about the return code. New with DB2 V8, COBOL programs can now execute a GET DIAGNOSTICS statement that will return all previous SQLCA values and provide additional information about new DB2 V8 extended object names and new SQL functions. The new GET DIAGNOSTICS function replaces existing SQLCA processing now found in most DB2 COBOL programs. GET DIAGNOSTICS also passes a text message about SQLCODE directly to programs. SQLCODE Overview If SQLCODE = 0, execution was successful. If SQLCODE > 0, execution was successful with a warning. If SQLCODE < 0, execution was not successful. If SQLCODE = 100, "no data" was found. For example, a FETCH stat
