I suppose, you mean Ubuntu 5.10 "The Breezy Badger" as your OS? Please, inform about the exact version fo MySQL you are trying to build there. I have Ubuntu 5.04. Is it OK to check on it or 5.10 is much different? [18 Jan 2006 0:00] Bugs System No feedback was provided for this bug for over a month, so it is being suspended automatically. The issue is that the ncurses stuff isn't instaled for to find which name Ubuntu uses for that library I did: apt-cache search ncurses and I found: libncurses5-dev - Developer's libraries and docs for ncurses and installed it with: apt-get install libncurses5-dev On my side also I needed to do the same with OpenSSL stuff: apt-cache search openssl

SCNR ;) –Bobby Apr 2 '10 at 11:15 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted I ran into the same issue. Run cygwin setup (http://www.cygwin.com/setup.exe) and then in the dialog search for libncurses. Choose the appropriate one and install it. Also search for libtermcap and install it. That should fix this. share|improve this answer answered Apr 29 '10 at 2:43 floatingfrisbee 436721 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote I think the problem is that you don't have the libncurses package installed in your Cygwin setup. share|improve this answer answered Apr 2 '10 at 11:18 Amal Sirisena 1,329710 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. The termcap library and headers are part of the libncurses5-dev package, which can be installed using: sudo apt-get install libncurses5-dev Additionally, if you just want to build a newer version of a package, consider using the build-dep command to fetch all known dependencies for the package that is currently in the repositories. For instance: sudo apt-get build-dep nmon Would install the following packages (if not already installed): debhelper libncurses5-dev hardening-wrapper share|improve this answer edited May 28 '14 at 13:21 answered Mar 1 '11 at 17:10 Lekensteyn 85.8k34220293 1 @jmunsch I've changed the link to something version-independent.
