missing. Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) During the installation of Cognos Business Intelligence, the following error message is generated when a required openmotif package is missing or is not at the required version level: "Error while loading shared libraries: libXm.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" Resolving the problem Scenario 1: OpenMotif package is missing For Cognos 10.2, you must install both the 32-bit and 64-bit OpenMotif packages. For Cognos Business Intelligence 8.4.x and Cognos Business Intelligence http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=224694 10.1.x, only the 32-bit OpenMotif package is required. Depending on the Linux distribution version, you must install one of the following packages: openmotif.x86_64 (RHEL) openmotif.i386 (RHEL5) openmotif.i686 (RHEL6) openmotif (SLES) openmotif-libs-32bit (SLES) Note: For SLES distributions, the OpenMotif libraries can be found at the SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 Software Development Kit e-Media Kit web site ( http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=fQKpDcAhPVY&ref=suse). Scenario 2: Incorrect http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21612290 version of the OpenMotif package is installed If the OpenMotif version installed is earlier than version 2.3.1, you can do either of the following: Use an unattended installation with the issetupnx command Follow the steps in the Installation and Configuration Guide to create and modify a response file. Go to the operating system directory in the installation files. Type the following command: ./issetupnx -s path/response_file.ats Create a softlink to an existing OpenMotif library Go to the /usr/lib directory. Use to the following command to create a symbolic link to another version of libXm.so and name the symbolic link the name of the missing library file; for example, libXm.so.4. ln -s libXm.so.3 libXm.so.4 Run issetup again. I have successfully installed eloTouch touchscreen drivers for 10.04, and gotten a command line utility to calibrate the touchscreen However, I wanted to see if https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-elographics/+question/188331 I could get the X GUI utility to work (there are libXm.so.3 and .4 versions available) I was told to install the apt-file package, and ensure .3 or http://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18787 .4 motif libraries were available 1) I installed the apt-file package 2) performed the update 3) searched with apt-file search libXm.so.3 or 4 (see output below) USERNAME@HOSTNAME:~$ debian error apt-file search libXm.so.3 libmotif3: /usr/lib/libXm.so.3 libmotif3: /usr/lib/libXm.so.3.0.2 USERNAME@HOSTNAME:~$ apt-file search libXm.so.4 USERNAME@HOSTNAME:~$ so it appears .3 is the library installed (do I need to do anything else to ensure correct "install" of libXm.so.3 or .4?) I ran another apt-file update just in case As you may see below, I believe I am a) in the debian error while correct directory (see ls -l command output) b)I have tried to run the ./cpl command, as well as c) try to run the ./cpl_motif4 command, both to no avail (the cplcmd file is a command line version, which works) I get the following errors (blank lines inserted for easier reading): USERNAME@HOSTNAME:/etc/opt/elo-usb$ ls -l total 308 -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 203 2011-02-17 18:34 99-elotouch.rules -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 77833 2011-02-17 18:34 cpl -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17684 2011-02-17 18:34 cplcmd -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 81929 2011-02-17 18:34 cpl_motif4 -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 442 2011-02-17 18:34 eloCreateFifo.sh -r--r--r-- 1 root root 7148 2011-02-17 18:34 Elo-Linux-USB-Driver_List-of-New-Features.txt -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 228 2011-02-17 18:34 elorc -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 35855 2011-02-17 18:34 elousbd -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 117 2012-02-19 22:55 EloUsbErrorLog.txt -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28881 2011-02-17 18:34 elova -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 253 2011-02-17 18:34 loadEloTouchUSB.sh -r--r--r-- 1 root root 16986 2011-02-17 18:34 readme.txt -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 2230 2011-02-17 18:34 setXAuthentication.sh -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 46

We have it set up so that certain apps are installed to a server, and when a user wants to use a particular app they call a shell script which in turn calls the actual program executable on the server and the program then runs on their local machine. I'm creating a new image of CentOS 5, and for some reason most of the apps can't find one of the two libraries mentioned before. I've tried configuring and installing things to make the libraries available, but ended up crashing the sytem twice necessitating reformats each time. I installed openmotif through yum, which I thought would install libXm.so.3 on my machine, but it didn't. Does anybody know why libXm.so.3 isn't installed when i install openmotif? Here's an example error:$ gambitLANG en_US.UTF-8 changed temporarily to C for gambit use.Starting /uxapps/x86_64/Fluent.Inc/gambit2.3.16/lnamd64/gambit .../uxapps/x86_64/Fluent.Inc/gambit2.3.16/lnamd64/gambit: error while loading shared libraries: libXm.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directoryHere's one for libc.so.6:$ altairhm/uxapps/x86_64/altair/hw7/altair/scripts/hm[712]: .[105]: .[84]: : cannot execute [Is a directory]sed: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directorysed: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directorygrep: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directorygrep: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directorygrep: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directoryHWPathInit Lib: Invoke init library has not been properly initiallizedhm: Unable to load INVOKE_INIT script component: InvokeInit Lib - Unable to load HWPATH_INIT script componentI'm relatively new to Linux myself, and I can't figure this library problem out for the life of me.
