Well I was able to open up Task Scheduler, which I never http://www.auslogics.com/en/articles/disk-defragmenter-could-not-start/ used before but I do not see how to start Disk Defragmenter in that Service. Reports: · Posted 4 years ago Top jocaan Posts: 20 This post has been reported. Ronniesonora, ok, when I double clicked on DD it was not started, so I clicked on the Start button in DD Properties and the status changed to Start. However (so many times there is always an "However") the Apply button did not light up, it stayed grayed out. So I clicked ok, closed out and still tried DD but the same message still came up. In Services the Status of Task Scheduler is "Started." But the Status of Disk Defragmenter is blank. So then I double clicked on DD and then the above happened. Frank C. Are you going to Start->Programs->Accesories->System Tools->Disk Defragmenter?? If not try that. In Windows 7 you should not ever have to run it. It is automatic. Mine is set to run every Wednesday at 1:00am. I

Have you ever had the problem where the Disk Defragmenter tool is NOT opening or Failing to start even when you try to run as an administrator? Disk defragmentation is the process of consolidating fragmented files on your computer´s hard disk. Fragmentation happens to a hard disk over time as you save, change, or delete files. The changes that you save to a file are often stored at a location on the hard disk different from the original file. Your computer slows down as it has to look in many different places to open a file. Disk Defragmenter is the tool that rearranges the data on your hard disk and reunites fragmented files so your computer can run more efficiently. In Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems, Disk Defragmenter can run manually or on a schedule. If you don´t know what I am talking about! That´s great. But continue reading anyway, you´ll never know if/when this happens to you and this tutorial might help. What is the Problem With the Disk Defragmenter? Have you encountered when you Click on the Disk Defragmenter tool, nothing happened? Or when you Right Click on the Disk Defragmenter tool and choose Open, or "Run as Administrator" nothing happened? If you did, then this tutorial might help you with a solution. I am using Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) Operating System, and I am sure that the Disk Defragmenter problem has to do with an ongoing error on my computer as I described in a previous tutorial: How To Fix ´Failed to Connect to a Windows Service´ Error. My Solution To the Disk Defragmenter Not Starting My solution to the Disk Defragmenter Not opening is to make sure that the Task Scheduler has started. The Task Scheduler enables users to configure and schedule automated tasks on their computer. If this service has somehow stopped, these tasks will not be run at their scheduled times and also any services that explicitly depend on it, l
