It will https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=142330.0 play the Windows start up sounds and the screen stays black. I can boot into Safe Mode. Avast will run, but will not scan at all. The automatic protection will not start, it gives me an option to start all services, but that does nothing. I have been using Avast religiously for 10 years and never encountered this issue before. Create and run Avast Rescue Disk or any other antivirus bootable media rescue scan or in Safe Mode with network run any on-line virus scanner. Try also ADWcleaner. Simply said scan and scan and scan with whatever antivirus and anti-malware you can get to run on your computer. https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB114#articleContent 0 Jalapeno OP TimGelhardt Feb 22, 2015 at 12:01 UTC I'm not having any luck with getting Avast to run in safe mode or boot-time scans. I've ran the malwarebytes rootkit, trendmicro rootkit tools. Malwarebytes finds stuff, trendmicro does not. Also regular malwarebytes finds things and quarantines them, but the infection remains. It's very buried and wreaking havoc. I think at this point I must cut my losses, back up whatever I can and rebuild...great excuse to get off Vista lol 0 Chipotle OP t5115q2343t5115q2343 Feb 22, 2015 at 9:02 UTC http://pcsupport.about.c

It's supposed to come on automatically at 7AM but it didn't. When I try to start it manually I get this message; unable to start scan, there are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper When I click on summary, I get this message; the avast antivirus program has been stopped or is in an inconsistent state, please restart the program to resume protecting your system only the restart button doesn't work. The 'fix now' button doesn't do anything either. The update button says that avast has to be turned on first With the exception of a one morning hiccup last week, avast has worked fine. Everything else on my pc seems to be operating correctly. The only change made [if at all] is my wife bought a MP3 player and the instructions said to charge the battery thru the USB port on the pc. I looked but haven't found any program that has been added in the last 24hrs. Anyone have any ideas? retired painter/contractor avid DIYer Sponsored Links 12-11-11,12:49 PM #2 Tolyn Ironhand Group Moderator Join Date Nov 2007 State MN Posts 10,376 Can you start up your system and do everything on it? Is Avast running now? It is possible that the MP3 player connected caused the issue, although I have no idea why.
