To chat they send consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or msdn for more information me a file that needs to be downloaded. The file will not install. I keep getting error 1316. I have tried to run as administrator I have rebooted with out my startup I have removed antivirus and firewall. We are much better then any technical support team you could ever ask for Anyways, your .msi file installation is quite common. I did a little googleing and found that it happens a crapload. I would suggest that you follow the following as the problem was with a different .msi file but had the same error code. Also, I am not sure if they mention this, but save the file to your desktop with the original (file download name) it was given. Here we go: I suggest that you install the Windows Installer Clean up utility from Clean boot and check, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. Steps to perform clean boot and check if you have the issue. 1.
