update a CS4 or CS5 product, Acrobat, or Adobe Reader on Windows, you receive the following error: Error 1327.Invalid Drive: [drive letter]. Solutions Solution 1: Temporarily remap the invalid drive. Determine the letter of the invalid drive that is causing the installation failure. For CS4 or CS5 installations, the drive letter appears in the install log following the error 1327 code. For Acrobat or Adobe Reader installations,

Note: The example above shows the letter Z as the drive letter. When you type, replace the Z with the letter of the invalid drive from your install error or log. Reinstall your Adobe product. I run into the same thing attempting to install the latest version using the full installer.H: is mapped to a user folder on the network. The My Documents folder is pointed to "H:\My Documents" and is ONLINE. The Adobe help page says the error occurs if the drive is unavailable but it is not, I have full access.It mentions setting permissions on the folder https://forums.adobe.com/thread/737476 for "Everyone" but this is the most insecure thing I have ever heard. These are user's directories on a Windows server, we cannot just set permissions to Everyone.Please advise.Thanks. Join Now We map several drives via login scripts and I have noticed this error in the past while installing Acrobat on Win 7, but I just set up a new Win 7 computer with Reader and a Reader https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/214867-adobe-acrobat-9-x-reader-10-x-installation-update-error-1327-invalid-drive 10.x update choked with this same error. There are several workarounds but none permanent that I can find. I don't mind the occasional workaround on an Acrobat installation but if READER updates are going to start choking it is totally unacceptable. Adobe is aware and suggests using the SUBST command to temporarily re-assign the drive (L in my case). The workaround I used for Acrobat was changing a registry setting ("Explorer Shell" if memory serves). I saw that workaround at the Adobe site but the shared drive is an Accounting drive that cannot be open to everyone. We have had these same mapped drives for over a year and done zillions of Reader updates but this was the first time I encountered this error. Check that, it happened to our Executive Director when she tried to install Reader for the first time on a new Win 7 box last week
updating applications in Windows Posted on January 21, 2011 by Robert Symptoms When trying to install or update an application, you receive an error message similar to the following: Error 1327. Invalid Drive: Z: I've encountered this error installing Google Earth and another application, and it also apparently happens with many others including Microsoft and Adobe applications. Cause These installers/updaters are failing to access the drive that one of your shell folders is on -- probably your Personal folder, ‘My Documents'. This could be because: the hard drive is no longer attached or isn't recognized by the system, or the drive was a mapped network drive that is no longer mapped, it's a network folder / mapped drive on a computer or server that is not currently available, or it's a network folder / mapped drive that the installer/updater doesn't have access to. Resolutions Cause 1: the drive is no longer attached or mapped Reattach the hard drive or map the folder back to the drive. If you need help with these, ask your administrator or local geek. Alternatively, update the registry to point your shell folder to a location that exists on a drive that exists. You may follow the directions at either Microsoft or Adobe for updating your registry (they are essentially identical). Cause 2: The network folder is on a computer or server that is not currently available Try again when the server is available (or see #1 above). Cause 3: The installer/updater doesn't have access to the network folder / mapped drive Ok, so this is really why I wrote this article.
