System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Hi all i am trying to error 1628 uninstall 3 previous versions of a program which could be on machines prior to installing a new one exit code 1603 i have one program created in sccm 2007 which is the new install, before that runs it is set to run a bat file which simply executes msiexec.exe https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa376931(v=vs.85).aspx /x{1110000-111000--11100011---}/qnmsiexec.exe /x{1110000-111000--11100011---} /qnmsiexec.exe /x {1110000-111000--11100011---} /qn they are just example codes the issue i am getting is im not worried if they arent installed i just want them to skip and continue and remove them if they are present, but non of the old versions are present on my test machine and when deploying in sccm its http://www.itninja.com/question/issue-with-1605-error-in-sccm-causing-programs-to-stop failing at the uninstall.bat phase with 1605 - only valid for products installed and not running the install. can anyone suggest a way to skip these processes only if they are installed and still run the other program as im stumped with this? thanks 0 Comments [ + ] Show Comments Comments Please log in to comment Answers 2 populate the Upgrade table of the new version and that installation will take care of the uninstall's of any previous version. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa369786(v=vs.85).aspx Answered 12/18/2012 by: jaybee96 Please log in to comment VBScab 3 years ago When futzing with upgrades, be mindful of where the RemoveExistingProduct standard action is positioned. Please log in to comment 2 You can first check for the products uninstall registry key and if present, only then run the uninstall command.. This can be easily done in batch or vbscript. / [List Solutions Only] I have a script that uninstalls applications from x86 and x64 systems using the syntax of msiexec.exe /x {app_guid}. The script works perfectly when run manually on any system and from SCCM on x86 systems. However, when run on x64 systems from SCCM, the uninstall returns a 1605 message which corresponds to 'This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.' The applications that I am trying to uninstall are 64-bit and could correspond to one of many GUIDs depending on their version. I know that SCCM is a 32-bit client, so I've tried various workarounds including using a task sequence with 'Disable 64-bit file system redirection' set, but the uninstall still fails with the 1605 error. Using the %systemroot%\sysnative folder isn't an option since we are still mostly Server 2003 and the required hotfix to support the redirection isn't installed. Pushing the hotfix is a non-starter due to the reboot requirement. Any other suggestions on how to uninstall the 64-bit app using SCCM? Are you sure that the application was installed per-machine and not per-user? This would explain the issue if the removal is being ran as a different user on a per user install basis. If you run the command by hand does it remove the application? The applications that were installed by SCCM would almost certainly have been per-machine. In my test machines, the applications were installed manually; either by running a script or using an MSI and responding to the prompts. The uninstall works perfectly on a 2008 R2 machine (x64) when the script is run manually from a command prompt running as administrator. Running the same uninstall script on the same system through SCCM generates the 1605 error. I haven't tried running the uninstall via SCCM on a Server 2003 x64 machine to see if it's something with UAC, but I can do so. gkirton Total Posts : 182 Scores: 8 Rewar
