The problem is that at the very end of the install nsrexecd fails to start with the error:Error 1920. Service nsrexecd failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services. After this I have to cancel and the install is rolled back. The service is using the local system account, and I am using domain admin account for the installation. The available articles suggest to attempt install to a different disk/location, but it did not help. Same thing happens for 8.0.1 and 7.6.5 install. Server has already been rebooted.Any tips where to look next? Thanks. 11707Views Tags: none (add) networker Content tagged with networker 1. How much of a "bad practice" is that, by the way? Thanks!VincePS: I can start the test agent myself from the Services panel. Friday, June 20, 2008 7:55 PM Answers 0 Sign in to vote Wow, that was a really non-helpful error message! The problem turned out https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7566cf09-d2bf-4231-9b5f-4d0e0b78a32c/privileges-to-start-system-services-when-installing-team-test-agent?forum=vststest to be that I had firewalls up on most of my machines, so they couldn't talk to each other... Monday, June 23, 2008 11:37 PM All replies 0 Sign in to vote Hello, I wouldn't consider that a "bad practice". My question is the following: After restarting your agent from the services panel, are you able to successfully use it? Thanks, David Gorena Elizondo [MSFT] VSTT Friday, June 20, 2008 10:48 PM 0 Sign in to vote No, after restarting the agent, it shuts down saying that there is no work for it to do. Retrying setup at this point still fails. I've done some more work since I last wrote: 1. I installed Visual Studio on my controller machine. 2. During my controller install, I get an error message: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." Nevertheless, the controller install seems to finish successfully. 3. I have created local Agent and Controller accounts that are admins on all my controller and agent boxes. (I misunderstood this part of the instructions.) Sadly, I'm still getting the error when running the Agent install. Maybe this is because of the error I get while installing the controller? I can't find any more info on the web
