Mysql Error 2003 (hy000)
Sounds like the MySQL service isn't running. Have you verified it's started? –jksloan Jul 2 '13 at 12:49 Using XAMP OR WAMP is much easier than mysql. –Foreever Aug 14 '13 at 6:26 add a comment| 11 Answers 11 active oldest votes up vote 30 down vote accepted You don't need a restart your windows. The easiest way to achieve this is Goto /bin/ Run mysqld (service) close the cmd prompt Run mysql.exe or the better way to do is add the location to PATH environment Variable Thanks share|improve this answer answered Aug 13 '13 at 5:05 debiansse 32728 2 My problem was that the mysql service wasn't running. I've installed MySQL, and as he instructs I run it from the command line. When I do so, I get this error: C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\MySQL Workbench CE 6.0.9>mysql -u root -p Enter password: ****** ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL http://stackoverflow.com/questions/23738610/mysql-error-error-2003-hy000-cant-connect-to-mysql-server-on-localhost-10 server on 'localhost' (10061) C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\MySQL Workbench CE 6.0.9> Does anyone know why? mysql cmd share|improve this question asked May 19 '14 at 13:08 CodyBugstein 3,9561558130 1 Is the mysql-server started? –Prior99 May 19 '14 at 13:29 Whenever I try (i.e. when I enter mysql into the prompt) it gives me the same error –CodyBugstein May 19 '14 at 13:36 You are using the mysql client which will now try to connect to a mysql-server running on your machine. The error-message looks like there is no such server running. –Prior99 May 19 '14 at 13:38 Problem with the firewall perhaps? –RandomSeed May 19 '14 at 13:40 How do I get a server running? Also see http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/can-not-connect-to-server.html The sequence of messages output from your script suggests that it might be connecting successfully to retrieve can't connect to the table structure, etc., and only fails when retrieving rows from the SELECT query. But I don't know the code in your script. For instance, it could be retrieving the table structure from a different MySQL instance, or it could be printing all four messages before attempting to connect. Regards, Bill K.
