Error 2003 (hy000) Can't Connect To Mysql
I'm trying to use mysqldump: > mysqldump -u root -pmypassword dbname > out.sql Getting an error: mysqldump: Got error: 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) when trying to connect Not sure what the problem is, looking at --help dumps variables and shows port=3308 as I set in the mysql installation (instead of default 3306). I don't think there's anything different with my installation. I also tried explicitly setting the port # on the command line but still same error. Thank you all. –user291701 Mar 25 '11 at 0:45 @ypercube post this as an answer so that it can be accepted and easier to see in future ;) –David O'Meara Mar 25 '11 at 1:43 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote To connect through a port (and not the default 3306), use: mysqldump -u root -pmypassword -P 3308 dbname > out.sql Besides that, a simple test to see if MySQL responds at port 3308 is to try telneting: telnet 127.0.0.1 3308 If MySQL is listening on port 3308, it'll respond with an error and the version running. share|improve this answer answered Mar 25 '11 at 14:28 ypercubeᵀᴹ 78.2k792160 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote If your Mysql-Client is 5.5.16 please upgrade it to 5.6.10, this process work

I have a bash script that executes mysqldump on a nightly basis against many tables in an Amazon RDS database. It has worked without issue for months, but http://stackoverflow.com/questions/33353575/mysqldump-error-2003-cant-connect-to-mysql-server-110 recently, I've started seeing errors. Example results for a recent week: Day 1: success Day 2: success Day 3: TBL citygrid_state: export entire table TBL ci_sessions: export entire table mysqldump: Got error: 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'blah' (110) when trying to connect ... wrlog crit forced halt Day 4: success Day 5: TBL sparefoot.consumer_lead_action_meta: export entire table TBL sparefoot.consumer_lead_action_type: export entire table mysqldump: Got error: 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'blah' (110) when trying to connect ... wrlog crit forced halt Since the script works completely some nights and the calls to mysqldump work dozens of times before an error occurs, my thought is that I have a timeout problem. But where? Might it be a MySQL setting? Or does the issue lie elsewhere? Some of the MySQL timeout settings: connect_timeout 10 interactive_timeout 14400 net_read_timeout 30 net_write_timeout 60 wait_timeout 28800 mysql mysqldump connection-timeout share|improve this question asked Oct 26 '15 at 19:01 jago 516 Each table is going to a different dump file........and yes, all dump files are perfect except the one it fails on (on the days it fails). have a big problem that I would like some help. I use Mysql Workbenc 5.2CE. I changed the default port to 3301. The mysql server is up and running well (I access it from an app I'm making with https://www.daniweb.com/programming/databases/threads/452199/mysqldump-can-t-connect-to-localhost-error-2003-10049 VB.NET). The problem is I can't get mysqldump to backup the database. I'm using the following code (in the command prompt) "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\bin\mysqldump.exe", "--user=root --password =mypassword" "--host = 127.0.0.1 --port 3301 --databases MySQL databasename -r ""C:\GreatestHR Backup\BackUpDataBase.sql""" (Note: I would like to use an IP Address for host) When I run that, I get the error: "mysqldump: Got error: 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10049) when trying to error 2003 connect ". Can someone please help me on this? (People are not even talking about mysql's error 10049 online.) I will appreciate any help. Port seems to be missing the equal sign, so check your syntax. From dorco's suggestion: I followed the link and it says binding would be an issue only if I was connecting to another IP address, say a public IP or just any other. But, for my case, the server is on the same computer (localhost) so I presume the binding is set correctly. But thank you for the article, of course it will help me in the future since I'm going to do that. 2.Pritaes, thank you. I added the = to port but no success sir. I will post my code below. 3.Nickw, thank you. I did what you said (host=localhost) no success. My code now looks like this: "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\bin\mysqldump.exe", "--user=root --password =mypassword" "--host = localhost --port=3301 --databases MySQL databasename -r ""C:\GreatestHR Backup\BackUpDataBase.sql""" But now I get a different error message:"Mysqldump: Got e
