in Flash AS3 up vote 11 down vote favorite 1 Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed. That's what I see every time I try to load an image that doesn't exist using a Loader. I'm getting a list of URLs and can't validate if they're pointing to anything useful. Whenever it encounters a 404 it gives me that error. I have tried to error #2044: unhandled ioerror:. text=error #2032 catch the error with every available IOErrorEvent there is (there are 7 of them),but none of them seem to capture the 404. Is there some other network event that I can be looking for to catch this condition?! I feel like I'm missing something obvious. What I'd really like is to be able to catch the event regardless of its description and just deal with it... sort of like myLoader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.*, dealWithError); But that's illegal. I even tried catching HTTPStatusEvent.HTTP_STATUS but that never calls back because, I guess, it gets the HTTP status after it deals with the error events, so, as it fails on the "unhandled" error event, it just gets lost. Are there events that aren't in the IDE that I'm overlooking? All help appreciated. flash actionscript-3 share|improve this question edited Apr 14 '11 at 22:07 asked Apr 14 '11 at 22:01 Genia S. 15k2293174 Are you using a Loader or a URLLoader? –Jason Towne Apr 14 '11 at 22:10 I'm using Loader because I'm loading an image into the object. Should I use URLLoader and then stream the byte array into the MC? I'll do that if th

But I get the Error #1009 inside of my Alert Box class. ////---- Display Alert Box private function displayAlertBox():void { alertBoxContainer.x = stage.stageWidth - alertBoxBg.width >> 1; alertBoxContainer.y = stage.stageHeight - alertBoxBg.height >> 1; addChild(alertBoxContainer); } Here is my code. The Alert Box class works fine everywhere else except inside of the error event handler. Can you actually use addChild inside of an error event handler? I tried calling a function from inside of the error event handler to display the Alert Box class and that still didn't work. //Display Alert Box private var alert_Box:alertBox; var _userIdRequest:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); _userIdRequest.load(new URLRequest("http://www.example.com/New_User_Id.php")); _userIdRequest.addEventListener(flash.events.Event.COMPLETE, CompleteHandler); _userIdRequest.addEventListener(flash.events.IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, ioErrorHandler); ////--- Error Handler; function ioErrorHandler(event:flash.events.IOErrorEvent):void { // not able to connect to the server trace("IOErrorEvent: " + event); alert_Box = new alertBox(); addChild(alert_Box); } actionscript-3 error-handling share|improve this question edited Dec 26 '14 at 13:12 Naveen Kumar Alone 5,66051841 asked Dec 26 '14 at 13:11 user3111472 357 where is your function?

In the following example (which should not be used in Production) I'll simply trace the full URL of the file that ActionScript thinks is missing to the console... var myLoader:Loader=new Loader(); myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, function(ioError:IOErrorEvent){ trace(ioError.text); }); Now, when you click on your button, your console should display something like... Error #2035: URL Not Found. URL: file:///C|/.../Phase1IP.swf If you determine that Phase1IP.swf is located at the URL traced to the console it still won't load, there may be another issue to explore. s
InheritanceIOErrorEvent ErrorEvent TextEvent Event Object An IOErrorEvent object is dispatched when an error causes a send or load operation to fail. You can check for error events that do not have any listeners by using the debugger version of Flash Player or the AIR Debug Launcher (ADL). The string defined by the text parameter of the IOErrorEvent constructor is displayed. There is only one type of input/output error event: IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR.
