My 1st time in the forums. I would appreciate any help that you can provide. In answer to your question. There are 4 URLs that I am concerned with currently. All are at the same root URL. These are flash video's that I wish to send and use with people. I was able to access them with no problem until I upgraded my flash player. trying to add a Quicktime file to my Vegas 6c project and I have Quicktime Pro 7 installed, and even recently purchased & installed the MPEG-2 'plugin' Apple sells for QT7, but the .mov file will not open, in Vegas or in any other player I have, including the Quicktime player. I've searched this elsewhere but find nothing useful. On giving an "open" command or double-clicking on the .mov file, I get a pop-up saying "Error -2048, this is not a movie file." Anyone had this experience? Thanks Quote More Direct link Report Direct link Report the solution vitalforce2 wrote on 01/12/2006, 03:43 PM Yes, I have a slew of other .mov files that play without a hitch. The one in question is from a DVD that someone who edited a film on a Mac (Final Cut), burned and handed out to the cast, allegedly using Quicktime Pro 7 for Macs, and a cast member friend asked me to add it to his reel that I prepared for him on Vegas+DVDA. I called them about it and was told "it plays on both our Macs." Makes me wonder if it's a missing codec but seems more mundane/mysterious than that. I asked for another copy in case it's bad media. Wonder if I should ask them to try burning with a different codec. I have seen this error when trying to open certain MPG files in QT. I select a different program like WinDVD or Nero ShowTime and it opens fine. Not sure if this helps. Maybe ask for a new DVD? "Q. A client has given me a Quicktime .mov to reencode with Clipstream. Clipstream couldn't encode it natively for some reason so I tried to play the source file in Quicktime. Quicktime reported an error -2048. What is that and what do I need to do in order to play (and then encode) it? A1. If the Quicktime was originally encoded in MPEG-2 then you will need the Quicktime component Mpeg-2 Playback Component from Apple in order to play it. A2. The original encoding had an error in it. Ask for another encode." Mike Thanks Quote More Direct link Report Direct link Report the solution vitalforce wrote on 01/12/2006, 08:54 PM I saw that MPEG-2 post too, in
