One, are you sure that username exists? Two, on Google Talk you need to have the person in your buddy list (and need to be in their buddy list) before you are allowed to talk to them. Are you sure that is the case? comment:5 Changed 9 years ago by toddsdonald pending changed from 1 to 0 Oh... I thought Pidgin worked regardless. I did not know you needed people to be in a buddy list. That's ashame. It would be an awesome tool if that was not the case. I run Yahoo, AIM, Live and GTalk on my site and it's a challenge running all four programs at once with pop-ups all over, etc. Oh well... If you ever get that problem fixed it'll be a World Class poece of software. Being restricted to it running from buddy lists makes it just one more software I'd need to run, instead of less. comment:6 Changed 9 years ago by deryni It isn't a limitation we put in place, it is one Google Talk did. It was one of their spam prevention measures as I understand it. comment:7 Changed 9 years ago by deryni Resolution set to invalid Status changed from new to closed comment:8 Changed 9 years ago by deryni To be clear I'm unsure whether the sender needs to have the receiver in their buddy list but I believe the receiver needs to have authorized/accepted the sender and thusly have the sender in their buddy list. Check the network settings in pidgin, Tools > Preferences > Network. Please run pidgin --debug in a terminal and reproduce, the output should give you some clues to what is causing this. You can attach the output to this bug if you like, so we can have a look. //magnus Changed in pidgin: status: New → Incomplete Andrew Ivanov (aa.ivanov) wrote on 2009-01-05: #3 Hi This Christmas my ISP surprised me by leaving me with no service.
