Anybody can answer The best answers are voted up and rise to the top System error 58 while accessing shares on Windows 7 from XP up vote 14 down vote favorite 13 I get the following error message while accessing Windows 7 shares from XP. System error 58 has occurred. The specified server cannot perform the requested operation. Both machines are in same domain. windows 10 system error 58 Windows XP machine can view and access all other shares except Windows 7. This was definitely less traumatic than any other fix. I was getting the problem I had even with all firewall stuff turned off. Net View "pcnamehere" worked just fine. Just when I tried to use Net View All is where it broke. I am able to access network files, just there are no PCs on the browser. If the service is enabled on several machines, there will be conflicts when electing a machine to reserve thebrowse list.
