Both VPN connections work fine in Windows XP Professional (have for some time), so I know the user name/password is error 629 pppoe correct and that it's not a firmware update issue for either one's router. When I try to create VPN connections to these same two customers in Windows 7 Ultimate, I get either error 629 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/170977 or 800 depending on the various settings I try/change to.Any ideas? It may be due to error on my part, I'm not sure. When from either PC, I type (in a DOS command shell window) C:>Telnet "IP address" - I get a "could not openconnection to the host, on port 23: connection failed". If I type C:>Telnet "IP address" 1723 - I get a blank screen with a blinking cursor, like as if it connected but no prompt for login credentials. Eventually, if I type "exit", I get the command prompt back. Any suggestions? Or am I doing something wrong in Telnet? The dialog box https://www.rainierconnect.com/support/kb/12186 says "Dialing" but it just hangs there for 5 minutes before I get the "Error 629--disconnected from the computer you are dialing" message. I have tried shutting down and error 629 rebooting (standard operating procedure on Windows) but to no avail.Oh, and by the way, I have no problems connecting via Roaring Penguin on my Linux machine. Also, I have recently been using BearShare alot (on Windows 98).Is there a listing of error messages somewhere?Any help welcomed. · actions · 2001-Jun-14 11:13 pm · (locked) Bob Carrickjoin:2000-04-24New York, NY 629 windows 7 Bob Carrick 2001-Jun-14 11:34 pm Normally 629 means your profile has been erased, but since you can log on via Linux we know that is not the case. Have you ever been able to log in via the Windows '98 box? Since Linux works no problem, it's safe to say the problem is with my 98 box.Does "Error 629" have any other meanings? Like I said, I've been using BearShare alot recently. Also, the 98 box has a long history of hanging when looking up internet addresses, in which case I reboot, which seems to work, but not this time! Thanks again.[text was edited by author 2001-06-15 11:41:24] · actions · 2001-Jun-15 11:38 am · (locked) Bob Carrickjoin:2000-04-24New York, NY Bob Car
