I have recently wiped the hard drive and re-installed os x yosemite with os x server. I use a Windows 7 machine at home which I am attempting to connect to my mac server with. Up until the wiping of the server I had fully working VPN services so I know they work. That and pings go through to my public IP without trouble. Pinged the public server IP with 4 successful packets, every so often some have weird times like 9ms. Flat out turned off my home windows firewall and also tried adding the proper exceptions. Have tried using os x server automatic wizard to adjust my router port forwarding/opening of ports, as well as tried manually entering my local server ip address and port to open in airport utility. Tried pinging and then connecting to the local address instead of the public address. Tried turning off all forms of encryption. Tried resetting the usernames / passwords. Checked the accessibility feature of os x yosemite and it says VPN is available publicly. Turned off automatic VPN type and manually tried both L2TP and PPTP. UPDATE 01-07-15: Since This Post I have now also... Tried adding all OS X VPN port exceptions in airport utility under the network tab. Tried to VPN into local address instead of public address. Following are the reasons and steps to fix error 629, The error 629 might be caused http://mechatrofice.blogspot.com/2014/08/fix-error-629-port-disconnected.html by an authentication failure due to the entering of invalid login information's. I.e wrong connection settings such as incorrect username or password. Make sure the username and password is entered correctly, http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=61048 check for letters, numbers, underscore, letter case, etc... The letter might be uppercase or lowercase letter (mostly lowercase), check caps lock key on or off and ensure the letter case is error 629 correct. Retype username and password correctly and redial the connection again. The problem might occur due to the modem is not attempting a perfect connection results by the corrupt modem driver, corrupt DUN (Data Universal Numbering System) connection settings or due to DUN connection is dialing an invalid access number. Try power cycle your modem, which might help to reset network activity inside error 629 pptp a modem or reinitialize its configuration or try restarting your computer and hold up until all applications have totally load, before attempting to reconnect. Invalid or corrupt Dial-Up Networking settings may cause the error 629, delete or uninstall the existing network connection and recreate a new one or create a new PPPOE connection and dial the connection using it. If still receive error 629 after tried these all, contact your internet service provider(ISP) to fix the trouble. I usually get the Error 800.I'm basically connecting a Windows 7 Client over the Internet and into the Router. So I use the routers PUBLIC IP on the client side and in the profile as you see for local address I have the routers internal IP of 192.168.1.1.
