firewall issue Saturday, March 06, 2010 7:37 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote When I try to telnet from either the XP Pro machine (where VPN clients work) or from the Windows 7 Ulitimate machine, I get the same error. It may be due to error on my part, I'm not sure. When from either PC, I type (in a DOS command shell window) C:>Telnet "IP address" - I get a "could not openconnection to the host, on port 23: connection failed". If I type C:>Telnet "IP address" 1723 - I get a blank screen with a blinking cursor, like as if it connected but no prompt for login credentials. Eventually, if I type "exit", I get the command prompt back. Any suggestions? Or am I doing something wrong in Telnet? I have a tower at home connected to a Trendnet TW623BRP router, My Internet provider is AT&T DSL.I have a laptop that I am wanting to VPN into the home PC. I have several means of connecting the laptop to home. I have a Sprint air card, which is what I tried first and could not connect. I can also connect from my work. Since I just set this up last night, I haven't tried that yet.The laptop seems to make contact with the router but cannot make the connection. When I first setup the VPN on the laptop, I was on my home wireless network, the same one the home device is on. Do I need to have separate setups for the different types of connections I'll be using (ie: VPL-Sprint, VPN-Work, VPN-Work)?Are there any tools that will let me see the route and how far my connection is getting? Or any suggestions>Thanks for your help....Paul tomy51 Newbie Posts: 9Joined: Fri Jan 15, 2010 6:31 pm Top Re: VPN on Windows 7 by alexmvp » Sun Jan 17, 2010 12:42 am Hi Tomy,I assume yo
