tubes got caught under the housing and jammed the print head against the right hand side of the printer, causing a 6502 Error Code. I fixed the jam, and restarted the printer, everything seemed to be normal. The printer went through a startup routine,

cleaning heads and what-not, but when it finished the error persisted. I restarted the machine, and error 6502 canon ix6560 still, the error remained. After a bit of googling, I found the solution: How to RESET the Error code “6502” 1 - Unplug your error 6502 canon ip4700 printer, pausing for effect. 2 - Plug the printer back in and then: 2a - Press AND HOLD the Power button 2b - Press the Stop button twice 2c - Release the Power button 2d - Press the Stop button

a further four times (see notes) notes: - someone reported you may hear beeping, I did not - I think the four button press of the stop AFTER releasing the Power button may not be required since once the powerbutton was released, the system immediately went into a startup routine, it didn't appear to wait for the stop buttons. But who knows, it was there, I did it, and it worked Author DavePosted on 2010/04/192010/07/09Categories generalTags cis, error, howto, mp620,

Reply Dave says: 2016/04/16 at 02:16 Sorry to hear that. It's a real bugger when things don't go as they should. I no longer use this inking system and perhaps Canon have changed things up a bit. Remove the print heads and give them a real good clean and make sure when putting everything back in that there is complete freedom of movement and there isn't even the slightest of snags. Good luck. carriage that holds the carts travels over to the left more than it used to, so much so, that only I can't reach K and extra canon mg5550 support code 6502 K without pulling it back to the middle. Can it be fixed or is it on the way out.regardsDr Madvibe Respond to this 0 Check to see if it gives you this error message with the old cartridge. If it does not return http://dav3.net/396/ the new one to the store anc exchange it for another as the new cartridge is defective. if it does however it means the mechanical sensor inside the print head has failed and the print head itself needs to be replaced. The print head is the part of the printer that puts the ink from the cartridge onto the page. Unfortunately rteplacing the print head can sometimes cost more then replacing the machine itself. by unknown on Jun 27, 2010 at 9:33pm Add comment Please sign http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/67632 in to comment 0 Doc,....The 1680 error code is saying that you have put the wrong color ink carts in the wrong position. Open the cover and when the ink cart comes to the center unplug the power cord and now you can move the head into a good position. Remove all of the ink carts. Now use a "Q" tip and some how water and clean the spring wire contacts inside the carriage for each ink cart. Now clean the contacts on the front of each ink cart. Now re-install the ink carts one at a time and close the cover each time and plug in the power and turn it on. Note the error if there is any for each ink cart you install. If the ink carts are good and you put them in the correct location you should not get any errors. The 6502 is all an "ink tank position" error, so I don't know why you thought you had a waste ink error. The reset that you did may have changed the internal defaults. Most people never get the "Waste ink Reset" done correctly. Right now just concentrate on getting good ink carts and put them in the correct position. by unknown on Jun 27, 2010 at 9:38pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Thanks for your replies guys. I finally managed to have a go at this and the old cart does give the same errorI tried taking all the carts out, cleaning the 4 contacts in th

Thread Tools Search this Thread Jan 11, 2008, 12:43 AM #1 laikanuki Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Posts: 54 Sometimes the Canon printers which use PG-5BK/CL-8 colour cartridges with chips will give error mesaages like 6502 or other types of error meaasge to do with the cartridges, which has the orange light flashing and the printer will not work. Follow this procedure which quite often resets the printer and allows it to resume printing. When error is indicated, turn power switch off so green light is extinguished. First hold down resume button and then hold down power button so both are held down at same time When green light comes on, continue holding down power button and let resume button go, then press resume button twice. Then let power button go. Then press resume button four times, power button should be releasedbefore doing this. Wait until printer settles down, if power is off, turn on. If power will not come on, remove power cord from back of printer, then wait 15 seconds before plugging back in again and turn power on. This normally solves the error problem - if not go through same procedure again. Incidentally, you may find that if the chips had previously been disabled, the low ink warnings are showing againand they will have to be disabled once more. This would indicate that the above procedure clears the firmware memory of the disabling of the chips, this may be usefull if you need some warranty work done on you printer after the chips had been disabled. Canon does warn that disabling the chips may result in the printer's warranty being voided Sponsored Links Jan 12, 2008, 9:29 AM #2 KnightCrawler Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Posts: 305 The error 6502 is a "Ink tank position sensor error" and the remedy that you offer is waste tank reset.
