Database Error 999

of our servers (as a Win2k8R2 VM) that hosts one of our 3rd party applications. This application uses SQL to serve sql db code 999 data to/from client machines all over the LAN, which uses this 3rd party software. After the outage, the host came up just fine and so did the VM in question. But now all workstations nsurlerrordomain error 999 are experience a SQL connectivity problem, usually dropping them from the database with an error that reads: "A database error has occurred. Error code: 999 Error Text: SQLSTATE=08S01 Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server Connection failure" We have a service contract with the software provider, but they seem to be unable to solve this issue as they think it is a networking problem on our side. I migrated the

VM to another host just case there was a problem with the host it was on was having some connectivity issues, but the problem persisted. The network switches show no TX/RX errors out of 10's of millions of packets, the tcpdump of the network traffic to/from the server all seems normal. I have tried restoring from a backup, but that doesn't solve the problem either. We thought it might be an IPv6 issue, so we turned off IPv6 but it's still a problem. These errors happen to everyone on the network at about the same time and they happen sporadically throughout the day. Sometimes it will happen a many times and other times, it might not happen for a couple of hours. When it happens, RDP loses connectivity as well. This reeks of a networking issue, but I can't seem to isolate where and how this is happening. Anything else I should be checking to verify that the connection is solid at all times? What it's saying is that something happened, but there's no error code to tell you what happened, so here's a default error code. What steps were you following when you tried to start the database?-SQLBill Red Flag This Post Please let us know here why this post is inappropriate.
