Exchange 2010 Backupinprogress True
vote Hi I have a DAG with 3 mailbox servers and 1 mailbox DB. (exchange 2010 update-mailboxdatabasecopy sp2 environment) I already have one seeding in progress for 1 of the servers. However when I try to do the same process and have a database copy on the 2nd server; I get the following error message A source-side operation failed. Error An error occurred while performing the seed operation..............Hresult: 0x50d. Error: A database backup is already in progress. Please verify that no other seeding or incremental reseeding operations are started for this database, and then try the operation again by rerunning the Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy cmdlet....... There are no backups going. The only other thing is the seeding of the DB on the other server. What gives? Is seeding limited to ONLY 1 per database? Meaning you have to wait for it to finish? Please help Thanks Edited by Kman2k Tuesday, January 08, 2013 6:34 PM Tuesday, January 08, 2013 6:33 PM Reply | Quote Answers 1 Sign in to vote OK, I believe this is causing the issue. Mail copy on EX02 was failed but I can't resume it . I have already tried 1. Update the database copy through GUI 2. Resume the database through GUI 3. I have also tried to https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/a813ea7f-b63b-485f-aac7-744a3ee25613/problem-seeding?forum=exchange2010 delete the current database and add it back to EX02 again. None of the above can fix my problem. Below are some further information. Any further advise ? This office has 2 providers, 2 databases. Two staff attempted to backup up the 2 databases at the same time. They say that was their normal practice, but of course that didn't work. Now, when staff try error a to backup either database, this error message appears. The error message appears from any workstation, either database, and even the Tutorial on the server. We have stopped/started ADS more than once. We have reinstalled Medisoft on 1 workstation. We have searched for loc/tim files. Today, we restarted the server. I am trying to understand what Medisoft is seeing that would indicate another backup is running. I would replace the mbackup, but that wouldn't explain why it happens on any workstation. Jim error a database Hildt suggested removing the mwuser.adt in the medidata folder, but that didn't work. Any ideas? It is supposed to allow you to back up while other users are using the system. Post back how it works. _________________Gavin Walker MedTech Medical Management Systems 417-890-6777 Top Profile Reply with quote mdssupport Post subject: Re: Error - A backup is already in progress by another user.PostPosted: Tue Feb 05, 2013 4:06 pm Offline Joined: Tue Feb 05, 2013 3:25 pm Posts: 1 I found that the mbackup.exe creates a 'HotBackup.txt' in the root of the Medidata directory. The text file only contains a '1' inside and basically just indicates that a backup has been started from within Medisoft v18. It is supposed to be automatically removed when the backup program is closed properly. When you remove or rename this text file the error message that 'A backup is already in progress by another user.' will no longer appear and you can perform backups in v18 again.Just in case it may relate, in the situation that i discovered this issue in, it appears there maybe an issue using the sta
