>> Figures in LyX How LyX handles figures The LyX Team LyX has the ability to handle literally any graphics format in the known universe so long as a conversion path from this graphics format to the target output format can be created. imagemagick windows If that sounds a little obtuse, consider how LyX handles Encapsulated PostScript® figures. LaTeX provides native support for this format, so LyX needs do nothing other than use the \includegraphics LaTeX command to insert the figure in the final document. To view the figure on the LyX screen, however, some additional work is required because neither the XForms nor the Qt GUI libraries can load PostScript® figures themselves. Thus, LyX must initiate a conversion from Encapsulated PostScript® to a loadable graphics format. The XForms library can load figures in the following, widely used, graphics formats: bmp, gif, jpeg, pbm, pgm, ppm, tif, xbm whilst the Qt library can also handle mng, png and xpm format figures. This information and much more about the conversion process can be

It seems just a display problem. Comment 1 Rex Dieter 2006-03-28 10:11:28 EST You may have an old config in your home directory. Try remove/rename ~/.lyx and/or From lyx' menu: Tools->Reconfigure BTW, what kind of graphic are you inserting? Comment 2 Rex Dieter 2006-03-28 10:32:05 EST See upstream report regarding graphic preview probs: http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2376 BTW, to you have the ImageMagick rpm installed? Comment 3 Yusuf Ma 2006-03-28 19:59:08 EST I removed ~/.lyx and did Tools->Reconfigure It seems that the problem was solved. It is weird because I installed FC5 on a freshly formatted hard drive and there should be no old config file in my home directory. Anyway, I'm happy with the result. Thank you for your suggestion. FYI, I am using eps graphics and I do have ImageMagick rpm installed. Comment 4 Rex Dieter 2006-03-29 09:14:28 EST Glad it worked for you. Now, I have to figure out why the Reconfigure was required in the first plac

to loadable formatBy dan – January 4, 2011Posted in: LyX, scripts & stuff I recently ran into an error on my Mac install of LyX, where pdf images weren't being displayed. After some searching, it looks like the error is a bug in Ghostscript 8.70, and can be fixed easily: http://www.mail-archive.com/lyx-users@lists.lyx.org/msg80148.html With Ghostscript 9.00 now out, this bug should be squashed (although I haven't checked). Edit: After upgrading to Lion, this error reared its ugly head again. After reinstalling Imagemagick (6.7.1-1) and Ghostscript (9.02), using Homebrew, my install is back in action. http://twitter.com/bikeboy Chad Frost Thanks for the helpful post, I ran into this and was stumped.
