Die Hard From: Back in Buenos Aires Registered: 2013-07-01 Posts: 844 [Solved]Dependency is not satisfiable I'm having a little trouble installing a program. The program I'm trying to install is brewtarget. I downloaded the .deb file, but, when I try to install it with GDebi, I get this:I searched the forum, and googled it. I found somebody having the same problem at Ask Ubuntu. He was told to run:sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgradeSo I did the same, But nothing happened. What should I do? Thanks in advance. Are you running stable, testing, or unstable? What do you get from the following command:apt-cache policy libc6If you get anything less than version 2.14, I think you are out of luck unless you upgrade to testing or sid, or try to pin to a later version of libc6 (stable has 2.13-38, and this does not satisfy the dependency for >2.14 you need). Or switch to Ubuntu ;-) Last edited by pidsley (2013-07-05 02:33:35) words to live by Offline #3 2013-07-05 02:33:14 pvsage Internal Affairs From: North Carolina Registered: 2009-10-18 Posts: 13,970 Re: [Solved]Dependency is not satisfiable Since you posted in the Testing/Unstable area, I'll assume you've already changed your repos to either jessie/testing or unstable/sid, and that neither of these satisfies your dependency. Just for grins, though, maybesudo apt-get install libc6 --reinstallmight be worth a shot. If it doesn't help, you may need to add the experimental repo and try installing the latest libc6 from there withsudo apt-get -t experimental libc6 Please help us keep your forums manageable. There is no libc6 package in experimental. Ubuntu is actually very bad about this, frequently updating their libc. I'm on Debian Etch and can't use packages compiled for newer Ubuntu setups because it was compiled against a slightly newer libc. To see what version you have use dpkg -l Code: Select alltillin9@Shiva$ dpkg -l libc6

Then check the libc needed by the package. An apt-get update, apt-get libc6 might just update the package, but I'd apt-get dist-upgrade to make sure you don't cause any more dependency problems (libc should be backwards binary compatible, but sometime isn't). Finally, assuming
