the problem is there!!! Any advice Coluld it be the formatter????Notice: I'm using only geniune HP parts and supplyes!!! Respond to this 0 Well since you have replaced everything in the printer that could cause the issue you now need to narrow down what you replaced that is defective. You need to perform a half test. Put a sheet of paper on the manual feeder and do a config page from the information menu on the printer. When the back edge of the paper enters the printer, quickly open the toner door to stop the printing. Now http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/HP-laserjet-2420-Tray-2-issues/td-p/5080076 remove the toner cartridge and look at the image below. If the defect is present, then the toner cartridge is the problem 99\% of the time. There is a slight possibility that during the conditioning stage of the print process the drum of the toner is not being fully discharged so when the next stage takes places part of the previous image gets put on the toner cartridge again. Very rare. http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/66327 If the defect is not present then the fuser has an issue. My money is on the toner cartridge. by dmzcompute on Mar 12, 2010 at 5:12am Add comment Please sign in to comment Our printer is ghosting the previous document or preceding portions of the same image. Those portions which are darkest are ghosted the most. So, from what you said, it sounds like this is a drum discharge problem. How do I fix it? - unknown 0 OK!!! I replaced the toner with a new one (geniune HP)the error is still there! I suspect the High Voltage controler board, but last few times on similar models where it was obvious that the HV controler is fault it turned out to be the formatter, every time!!! by reem on Mar 15, 2010 at 1:37am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 The first thing is to follow DMZ's advice. by moe on Apr 16, 2010 at 11:05am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Clinton,The most frequent cause of ghosting is if the fuser film is corrupt. I would suggest replacing the fuser before you get into boards. by josh naron on Apr 16, 2010 at 12:59pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I love t

If the noise seems to be coming from the rear and seems to be excessive, there are two common culprits that are worth replacing. The fuser in the LaserJet 2420, 2430 is notorious for having weak pressure roller bushings. See picture below -- these bushings are sometimes green, sometimes tan/brown. When the bushing wear thin, the pressure roller gear rides too low and you'll hear gear noise because the gears are grinding against each other and not meshing well. To fix this problem, you should replace the fuser and also the fuser drive gear in the printer. Both the fuser and fuser drive gear are included in the printer maintenance kit and are not difficult to change -- click here for kit purchasing options. If you have already tried replacing the fuser, or if a new noise develops after replacing a fuser, your printer's drive gear is probably worn out as mentioned above. Sometimes folks will even report that an old fuser runs quietly; but a new fuser runs loudly. The problem is usually not with the new fuser -- especially if it's one of our PrinterTechs fusers, we thoroughly test our rebuilt fusers before shipping. The replacement fuser’s new gears are not meshing well with the worn-out drive gear in your printer. This gear wear is a very common problem, and fortunately it's easy to change. Below is a picture of the drive gear in your printer which needs replacement. Keep in mind that the gear wear may not be obvious from a visual inspection. Remove the fuser and look inside your printer on the rear left hand side – use a flashlight if n
