"the printer is out of warranty."Anyone have any assistance, guidance, or otherwise? Respond to this 49.4c02 error hp 9050 1 First to the poster with the 2420, you need to find a 2420 thread or start your own, mixing models in hp error 49. a thread leads to confusion.4200 49 Error TroubleshootingPower off the printer before removing the JetDirect, Hard Drive, formatter or memory modules.Disconnect parallel and/or network cables. (power can be on)Attempt to duplicate error using only built in test prints. After http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/HP-Laserjet-2420d-has-quot-49-4C02-service-error-quot/td-p/1675543 determining if you can get errors with the built in tests continue troubleshooting.Hopefully you will find the problem without having to go through all the steps. If the printer has a network interface, then power off the printer, remove JetDirect, power on and test machine. If the printer has a hard drive installed, then power off the printer, remove the hard drive, power on and test machine. If the printer has more than one memory module installed, then http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/30926 power off the printer, remove the extra memory modules , power on and test machine. If the printer had more than one memory module installed, then power off the printer, remove the memory module you left in it at the last step, install one or more of the modules you removed, power on and test machine. (if you don't have enough memory the results might be odd)If the printer will go to a ready state, then attempt to load a firmware upgrade, do this even if the firmware version is current, you might have corrupted firmware. If the printer will not go ready, and you have already done the steps before this, then perform a cold reset. (if a cold reset is done with a JetDirect installed it will reset all the TCP/IP settings, etc.)1. Turn the printer power off.2. For HP Laserjet 4200/4300 Series printers: Hold down SELECT, and then turn the printer power on.3. Continue holding down until all 3 control-panel lights flash once and then stay on. This could take up to 10 seconds.4. After the message SELECT LANGUAGE appears on the display, press UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW until COLD RESET is highlighted.5. Press Checkmark, The printer then performs a cold reset and finishes its power-on sequence. If there is another 4200 available power off swap memory modules with it, unless you'
anyone help.Thanksrfr Respond to this 0 Download and upgrade the new firmware might solve the problem. What do I do to fix this? - Anonymous This has already been spoken of a while back. Here is the 49.4c02 service error link:http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/laser/54166It seems that they have your solution KenD. - MiniViking 0 For some time now we have been aware of high failure rates with the Formatter boards in the HP2420, the HP3005 and the HP615 Network Interface Cards. Searching the HP printer forums we learned some interesting concepts. In the printer repair field the failure rates of these items is epidemic. Theories mostly centered on heat factors as the cause. Our testing and research seems to show that vibration is the most likely culprit. A secondary consideration is the different heat induced expansion and contraction rates of the chip and the board it is mounted on. These printed circuit cards have special processor chips that are surface mounted on the card with a Ball-Grid-Array soldering technique. The chip has a tiny blob of solder on each contact instead of a protruding pin. The board is coated with rosin, the chip is placed on the board then the board goes through an oven. The temperature must be at least 361° Fahrenheit to melt the solder. The boards we are working with were soldered with lead based solder. Later boards using the Restricti

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Pinterest Share by Email × Question about HP LaserJet 2420 Printer 4 Answers 49.4C02 Service Error Our printer HP LaserJet 2420n was working great for nearly a year. Then today, between print jobs, it went to this error (see subject) on the screen. I called HP tech support since its still under warranty and spoke to someone NOT helpful. Basically she said we had to update the firmware. She faxed me cheat sheet on how to update this. However, it claimed that when I put in the IP address of the printer into internet explorer, I would see a folder I would then drag a copy of an .RFU file (I had downloaded this per her instructions) into port1. There was only a link to a port 1 but no folder. Anyway, when I dragged this RFU file to this link, it would switch the window to a bunch of computer code. Then she would have me turn off the printer and turn it back on. It would look all normal, and say ready. THEN, it would say "Processing job" and the data light would flash for about 30 seconds, then nothing happened and that was it. It would give me that same Service error again. She then had me pull out the printer's memory and put it back in and turn the printer back on. Still didn't work. And now when I power up the printer, it has a blank display screen (which means all my settings are lost!). That's when she decided I needed the printer repaired and my options were 1. pay $69 to get a new one shipped to me and return this bad one or 2. Work with a local HP authorized repairman-FREE or 3. Have them ship me a prepaid box, then send it back, and then wait for HP to fix it and eventually return it. FREE I have chosen option 2 and the repairman is coming tomorrow. However, I may need to wait a week for parts! Any help to fix this sooner would be great as I need to get this back up and running...its our networked workhorse printer for my entire 6 person office.
