I want to see if someone out there actually has the answer. Details:IPad IOS 5.1No number in error message on Ipad while trying to update directly through the ipad. No number in error message when trying to update through ITunes but instead of getting the error occurred message I get a file corrupt while downloading. I have reset the Ipad to factory settings. I have tried to install the update file from a downloaded file after trying everything else and it still did not work. I have also tried to install file in safemode. I said safe mode but I meant DFU mode. I believe iTunes called it safe mode. I have turned off my firewall and anti-virus program and I am still receiving the file corrupt message on iTunes. Also, it still will not update through the iPad general>update method. The update downloads without any issue, and I have over 1 GB of space free. I am currently facing the issue with the iOS 5.1.1 update. Screenshot of error below. I faced this issue with the 5.1 update as well, and ended up using iTunes for the update. I have the 16 GB wifi model of the iPad 2. Restarting the iPad doesn't help either. My 3rd gen iPod touch http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/51143/how-to-resolve-the-unable-to-install-update-error-for-ota-ios-updates has no issues with the OTA updates. This seems to be a common problem, and people have faced it on different devices as well. No one seems to have found a foolproof solution so far on the net. Is there any fix for this, as the iTunes route is a much heavier download. ipad ios software-update share|improve this question edited May 12 '12 at 5:52 asked May 12 '12 at 5:31 ab.aditya 10114 1 Does this iPad happen to be jailbroken? OTA updates always fail on jailbroken devices (they need to be restored/updated via iTunes instead). –britta May 12 '12 at 12:08 @britta Nope, not jailbroken. –ab.aditya May 12 '12 at 19:59 FWIW, I finally managed to install an OTA update (6.0.1) after a spate of iTunes based updates. The only difference this time was that I was connected to a proper wifi point rather than tethered through my phone. –ab.aditya Nov 28 '12 at 17:38 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote -1 down vote if you download updates very soon after Apple releases them, they can sometimes get corrupted because the server is sending you the individual packages at the same time as it it send them to many other people. You may just need to wait a while and try again. share|improve this answer edited Jun 20 '12 at 19:39 patrix♦ 34.9k1072103 answered Jun 20 '12 at 18:55 alexrider2014 1 Weird idea of how servers work. How to Fix iTunes Error 3194 While Restoring or Updating iOS How to 15 Jan, 2014 Apple’s support page for specific errors on iTunes isn’t all that helpful. For starters, Apple isn’t all that interested in people downgrading their iOS firmware. So naturally, all the signing is already done with so if you’re trying to downgrade to iOS 6.1.3 or lesser after an upgrade to iOS 7, you’re going to have a bad time. And when you’re dealing with a jailbroken iPhone, it’s going to be even worse. If you’re real lucky – and I mean seriously lucky – you’ll not see any errors crop up when you try to update or restore. Most users who don’t usually tinker with their iPhones are these lucky ones. For the rest of us, here’s what you can do to fix the iTunes error 3194. How to Fix iTunes Error 3194 During iOS Update on Your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch: You’re just trying to update / upgrade the firmware but iTunes keeps throwing up this error. In most cases, it’s because of a simple problem with the hosts file. Here’s how to fix it: For Windows, navigate to C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/ and find the file that’s named “hosts” For Mac, the file is in /etc/ Open the file in Notepad (or any other text editing software) (for Windows users, open this with Administrator Privileges) You’ll mostly have this line at the bottom of the file: 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com Either comment this line out by typing a single ‘#’ (without the quotes) in front of the line (before 74) or remove the line entirely. Now, save the hosts file and then try updating your iPhone through iTunes. In most cases, the error shouldn’t pop up now. Again, if you’re lucky, this should work. To me, this method never worked but then, I had my iPhone jai
