I have been facing this problem for a month now and I have tried every possible option. It was working very fine untill then for past 5 months. Problem: "There was an error joining the airport network" The problem comes only when I make my network secure. If I make it open, it works fine.. I dont want to keep my network open and unsecure, so the problem keeps bothering me. Things I have tried. 1. I have tried removing all the old passwords in the keychain and deleting all the previous networks it remembered. no difference, same error.. 2. I have tried several other things suggested in different forums and articles, nothing really gave any results.. 3. I finally got my OS reloaded with erase and Install option.. still the same error message comes.. I have my Interferece robustness on and other PC computer connected to the same network works fine.. I have even tried changing the router from Netgear to Linksys, nothing really worked.. Please give me some input on the issue and possible cause of the problem. If anyone else have the same issue, kindly share the same.. Thanks a lot in Advance.. #1 yannam, Apr 7, 2006 Grap10 uix_expand uix_collapse Registered Joined: Sep 21, 2

The problem is as follows: I recently moved to a new place and bought in to error joining airport my roommates pre-existing wireless internet network. He provided me with the password to access the internet and it worked perfectly, and everything went just fine for about two weeks. Then one day I started up my computer and I was not connected to the network for some reason (this is the first time that had happened,) and so I tried to connect again. I chose the network from the airport dropdown menu and input the correct password and it said "there was an error joining the airport network..." I have no idea what the problem could be. I didn't change any settings on my computer and my roommate contends that he did not change the password or any network settings (and he is having no problems connecting to the internet on his pc.) I could understand there being some sort of conflict with the router if I had never been able to access the internet at all, but I was able to successfully use this network for two weeks as I previously mentioned. Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks. My specs are the following: ibook G4 1.33 Ghz PowerPC Mac OS 10.4.11 Wireless Card Type: AirPo
A fix for a changed password wireless connection error Jan 17, '05 09:21:00AM • Contributed by: Anonymous I was recently mucking around with the password settings for my wireless network (which is running off of an Asante wireless router), and for some reason, my iBook started refusing to connect to it, giving the ever descriptive "There was an Error Joining the Network" dialog. It would connect fine when I made a new location and entered the password into the Network Settings prefpane, but would refuse to connect if I selected my network on the Airport menu item while using my usual Location. Other computers connected with absolutely no problem without having to change network settings. After much pulling of hair, I found that if you had the network selected as a "trusted network," OS X saves the password in your Keychain (which is logical). But if you then change the network's password, OS X will throw the "error joining" message instead of asking you to enter a new password. Erasing the entry in my keychain for my wireless password allowed me to connect without having to change locations or do any other sort of voodoo. Perhaps it is a problem with my router not sending a proper error to my iBook, but I figure I'm not the only person who has run into this problem. • Currently 2.50 / 5 You rated: 3 / 5 (4 votes cast) [17,079 views] Hint Options Printable Hint Format Subscribe to 'macosxhints.com network tips' A fix for a changed password wireless connection error | 5 comments | Create New Account Newest First Oldest First Flat Nested No Comments Threaded Click here to return to the 'A fix for a changed password wireless connection error' hint The following comments are owned by whoever posted them. Another solution is to open the "Internet Connect" app, choose the "AirPort" tab and in the "Network" pull-down menu, choose "Other". Manually enter the SSID (network name) and new password. This method works well because opening "Internet Connect" allows you to see a detailed wireless signal level as well. There's an open network at work that, from my office, has very low signal. However, in the food court, it is the only network available, and
