to the internet - everything seems fine the now.But...I'm trying to setup the wireless internet there was an error joining the airport network fix with security encryption... Neighbor is home from uni and i don't want her accessing my wireless internet. I contacted Belkin to see how
There Was An Error Joining The Airport Network Mac
to set it up, they talked me through the "web interface" and how to activate it - pass phrase and key generated.Now...When I go wireless i click on the Airport and select the network "Belkin_Mimo" and it asks there was an error joining the selected airport network for a WEP Key: So i enter the key that was generate and click Connect...However i get the following error message:"There was an error joining AirPort network "Belkin Mimo"- OK or TRY AGAINI've tried the $ first then the wep key - but it still brings up the error message.I've also tried all the different WEP Keys and different PassPhrases - there's about a foot between computer and router - so it's nothing to do with the keychain first aid signal.Reset the router, and restored it back to factory settings.=======Belkin just phoned.Talked me through different set-ups and settings. And still nothing - they said try with a windows computer - so i did. And the WEP security worked. And them said that there was something wrong with Apple computer and hung-up.Any suggestions why my PowerBook doesn't allow me to join the wireless network with WEP Security - it works fine without it, but i'd like to stop my neighbor from accessing it when she comes home from university.THANKS PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.8) Posted on Oct 31, 2006 1:44 AM I have this question too by Tesserax,Solvedanswer Tesserax Level 9 (54,724 points) Wireless A: First, I suggest that you use WPA instead of WEP as WEP is no longer considered secure. If you must use WEP, I suggest that you use a 128-bit (26 character) hex key and NOT use the passphrase feature to generate the key on your Belkin. Then use this same 128-bit hex key when connecting from AirPort. I have been facing this problem for a month now and I have tried every possible option. It was working very fine untill then for past 5 months. Problem: "There was an error joining the airport network" The problem comes only when I make https://macosx.com/threads/airport-woes-there-was-an-error-joining-the-airport-network.270604/ my network secure. If I make it open, it works fine.. I dont want to keep my network open and unsecure, so the problem keeps bothering me. Things I have tried. 1. I have tried removing all the old passwords in the keychain and deleting all the previous networks it remembered. no difference, same error.. 2. I have tried several other things suggested in different forums and articles, nothing really gave any results.. 3. I finally got my OS reloaded with erase and Install option.. still the same error message comes.. I have my Interferece robustness on and other PC computer connected to the same network works fine.. I have even tried changing the router from Netgear to Linksys, nothing really worked.. Please give me some input on the issue and possible cause of the problem. If anyone else have the same issue, kindly share the same.. Thanks a lot in Advance.. #1 yannam, Apr 7, 2006 Grap10 uix_expand uix_collapse Registered Joined: Sep 21, 2006 Messages: 1 Likes Received: 0 Same problem - any ideas, anyone, anyone?? #2 Grap10, Sep 21, 2006 powermac uix_expand uix_collapse iMac Dual 2.0 17' Joined: Aug 21, 2002 Messages: 1,215 Likes Received: 0 On the secured network, using a third-party router, many people have found, placing a '$' before the password, on your Mac helps. Here is an article that may help you. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106424 #3 powermac, Sep 2
