I am trying to salvage the data by copying it and get the same error: "Error while copying "VTS_01_0.VOB". drive. All the small files copy fine. None of the large files error while copying ubuntu copy at all. Every time I try to copy one of the large files I get this error splicing file input/output error fix cryptic error message. Why is it trying to "splice" a file? If it can't read the file, say so. If it can't write the file, say so. Saying "Error https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1500384 splicing file: Input/output error" doesn't tell me anything useful. It just makes me think the computer has lost it's mind. Found a whole bunch of posts on Ubuntu forums about the same thing, and no answers. I seem to have downloaded this iso image successfully as the checksum match perfectly. But when I try to copy this iso file which is 4.7 GB in size (original size was 4.4 GB on the Fedora torrent site listed below) to a month old 32 GB pen drive, it shows an error saying "error splicing file file too large". There is no virus on my system nor any on the pen drive. So what could be the reason and how do I transfer this iso from my system to another one? Thanks a lot. FAT32 (or the even older FAT16) is the file system used in older MS-DOS and Windows systems. It has been replaced by NTFS in the newest Windows operating systems, and Vista and Windows 7 do not even install into a FAT32 drive.
