I'm trying to copy over all of my stuff to prepare for reformatting and installing a new OS. A handful of my mp3s did not transfer when I was doing my music folder. I checked them after the fact and the ORIGINAL files became corrupted somehow. I am certain of at least a few that were not corrupted in anyway before doing this. Every http://askubuntu.com/questions/395806/error-splicing-file-input-output-error now and then during my transfer I got There was an error copying the file into /media/***/Seagate Expansion Drive. Error splicing file: Input/output error Each of these files that I check after are corrupted at some point in the duration and will not play. Why did this happen and what can I do to fix it? filesystem share|improve this question edited Jan 16 '14 at 18:25 Braiam 39k1693154 asked Dec 26 '13 at 5:54 alreadytaken4536 16113 1 Possible duplicate of ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1500384 –ubfan1 Dec 26 '13 at 6:22 1 This error indicates a problem with the storage media. Either a bad drive, or a filesystem problem. Are you sure that corrupted MP3's was work fine bedore copying? Also you can try to use gnome-disk utility to check your drive –c0rp Dec 26 '13 at 6:23 One of my mp3's was corrupted for sure and in a very strange way. I loaded it into the movies media player and it froze around 12 seconds. So next time I loaded it I skipped to around 15 seconds and it somehow had fused with another song in my library, then after a few seconds went back to normal. I know that the song was not corrupted because I copied it to my phone some time ago and it's totally fine on there. –alreadytaken4536 Dec 26 '

It is almost free but when I try to copy an 1,5GiB file on it it starts very fast (I use an USB3.0 card reader) but when I reach 1,1-1,2Gib it freezes, unmounts the SD and shows me "Error splicing file: Input/output error".I read that this is a very common trouble but I didn't found any solution. Some of you has ideas?I also report that I can't connect my Sony SGPT12 Tablet via MTP. It says# mtp-detect Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6 Listing raw device(s) Device 0 (VID=054c and PID=06ac) is UNKNOWN.
