Ati2mtag Error In Event Viewer
Log (Windows Vista Business) and foundError - Event ID 7 - disk (The device has a bad block) that happens every day 1-2 times for more than iastor error in event viewer a month. According tothe article http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Windows+Operating+System&ProdVer=5.2&EvtID=7&EvtSrc=disk&LCID=1033: "Explanation The device has a bad block of memory, which Windows attempted to read. The data might be missing or corrupted. User Action If this event is logged regularly, replace the hard disk drive." However, when I go to Control Panel-System-Device Manager-Disk Drive-Disk C - I read what is crypt32 error in event viewer "Device is working Properly"In addition, in Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Computer Management-Storage-Disk Management I read "Disk 0-Heathy".System has only Disk C, no disk in CD/DVD drive or USB.I do not know what to recommend my customer. Shall he replace the disk according to Event ID recommendation, or ignore it and rely on Healthy status? Please advice, or share your thoughts about this dilemma. This should provide information about hard drive's health and status according to the device itself. The S.M.A.R.T. data can sometimes be read in BIOS or in diagnostic utilites that may come with the PC (if it's Dell for example the built-in diagonostic tools are capable of reading S.M.A.R.T. data). You may also use a freeware utility for Windows called Speedfan to access the information. If the drive is failing according to S.M.A.R.T.

Want to Advertise Here? Solved Bad Block error in Event Viewer (Source "disk" with Event "7"), will mirroring the drive fix it? Posted on 2013-09-03 Storage Hardware Server event viewer Hardware Windows Server 2008 1 Verified Solution 13 Comments 435 Views Last Modified: 2015-06-23 We have a server that is reporting numerous bad block errors in Event Viewer. It gives the event ID of 7 and source of Disk. We've had this machine restart itself several times over the weekend, and our offline backup will not complete (freezes at 99%, then restarts). It is reporting the error on Disk 0 error in event (C: drive), and we have three other disks (1,2,&3) in this server that are configured as RAID-5, but we have never used them (it's the E: drive and there is no data on that drive). So, we're thinking of deleting the volume (RAID-5) and taking one of those drives and mirroring the C: drive to a newly available drive, but, will this work? We ran chkdsk /r remotely, but it didn't fix the error or bad sector(s), so would we be copying over the problem? Possibly related: the log of our backup system reports an error of a msdblog.ldf file, block 24 every time this backup fails, so we didn't know if block 24 was the one and only cause of this error... Thanks for the help! 0 Question by:mdcr1 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution bymdcr1 Apparently was a cascading failure... After running chkdsk and then restarting, the server never got past crcdisk.sys on startup, restarting normally resulted in BSOD upon startup, server was rebuilt Go to Solution 12 Comments LVL 12 Overall: Level 12 Windows Server 2008 6 Server Hardware 2 Storage Hardware 1 Message Expert Comment by:Gary Coltharp2013-09-03 If you have a utility like ghost that can do a raw copy of the volume, you
