An Extended Error Has Occurred Failed To Save Local Policy Database
Comments on An extended error has occurred message when accessing networkshare An extended error system error 2221 has occurred message when accessing networkshare In this article I will show you how to fix a problem regarding network shares. I've an extended error has occurred unc tried connecting to a network share by specifying the UNC (Universal Naming Convention) to a run prompt and I've received an error stating that an extended error has occurred and I couldn't access the share. Upon checking https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/d960c4ae-d971-40a9-97d5-fc9a9ce1a802/drive-mapping-extended-error?forum=w7itpronetworking the Server and the remote network share I came to the conclusion that there is a problem with the local workstation. I've tried several things before I've found the real solution to the problem. The first thing I've tried is to reach the network share by typing the UNC in Windows explorer but, with no success. Issued ipconfig /flushdns in command prompt to clear the DNS Resolver Cache: Because nothing has changed I've also tried to https://ittrainingday.com/2014/01/07/an-extended-error-has-occurred-when-accessing-network-share/ reset the network TCP/IP stack by issuing netsh winsock reset from command prompt and also disabled/enabled the network card. Normally, when you access a network share using the UNC, a popup window is displayed indicating that you'll need to enter your credentials. The only exception comes when you've cached the credentials on your local machine. The final solution came when I've checked the password vault and/or the credential manager. The password vault can be opened by typing rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr in command prompt: This is how the password vault looks like: Credential Manager can be opened from Control Panel\User Accounts\Credential Manager. Once the window has opened, delete any credentials cached for that particular network share: That's it for this article, wish you all the best and stay tuned for the following posts from IT training day. Ivan-Liu: That is the error extended error has message, word for word. It's not very helpful, is it. No code or description or anything. No event log that I can find (weird). Like I said, I already tried to flush DNS. Just tried to reset winsock and it didn't change anything, either. Net use produces the exact same results as mapping through windows explorer. Unfortunately I'm going to have to call this issue closed, it was the CEO's PC and he just got fed up and had us buy him a new one. He needed it anyways, the computer was pretty old and slow.
