08 Mar 2009, 2:54 pmThe software for my scanner has a program "HP Director" which allows me to operate all of my HP devices from one location. You can check ink levels, http://www.geekpolice.net/t7362-hp-scanner-scanjet-3970-script-errors do updates, set preferences, etc. The other day I was having trouble http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/30249 with my scanner. After trying several recommendations, I uninstalled/reinstalled the scanner, That is when I lost the use of HP Director. When I select HP Director I get a Script Error: Line 146 Char 5 wich is followed by another script error: Line 99 Char 5. Both are "unspecified hp print Code 0". I have tried a clean install and a patch recommended by HP. After uninstalling the software which included deleting Hewlett Packard/HP from the registry and Program folders, then I had a problem reinstalling the software. I got an error code 2343. I used System Restore to go back before the uninstall. Any help on this will be appreciated. hp printer assistant Windows XP Home SP3. :hmm: RonTheWeaveRookie SurferPosts : 60Joined : 2009-01-11Operating System : XP Home, SP3, Re: HP Scanner Scanjet 3970 Script ErrorsbyDoctor Inferno on Sun 08 Mar 2009, 10:14 pmHello,Try this first, delete the Digital Imaging folder located at:Program Files\Hewlett-PackardIf unable to complete any of the steps below, restarted the computer system before trying them again. Now, to uninstall and reinstall the HP Photo and Imaging software.Disconnect the USB cable from the scanner. Open the Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs. From the list of installed programs, click HP Photo and Imaging and click Remove. Follow the prompts to fully remove the scanning software and restart your computer. Insert the scanner installation CD and follow the prompts to completely reinstall the scanning software. After that connect the USB cable to back the scanner. If it still doesn't work, we have to remove the HP Photo and Imaging installation values from the Windows registry. But before you have to back it up, read on how to do it here:http://www.geekpolice.net/tutorials-guides-f13/backup-your-registry-with-erunt-t7262.htmAfter that is done, Start >> Run >> regedit.Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products. I also get an error reference to director3.htm. My errors location is on Line: 67, Char: 9, Code: 0. The error message is "Library Not Registered". My frustration is increased by virtue of having a working installation the first time through. My son had some kind of problem and tried to restore the system from an old backup. In addition to clobbering all our email IDs the PSC 2355 installation was wiped out. After working on it for three days I finally got a clean install (i.e. no messages) only to find the scanner doesn't work. I am assuming the above script problem re: HP Director flows from the scanner problem. If scanner problems are not permitted on this printer site, let me know.Clwyddavis by unknown on Jul 10, 2005 at 2:55pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Imaging\\bbfe\\director\\director3.htm by Anonymous on Sep 9, 2005 at 9:09am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I have a big problem. A week ago I set it to another computer, I have been bothered a lot, set with the coming CD, the notification " Window cannot recognise it ", and, HP director shows, also, "Internet Explorer Script Error".
