my web site that worked locally for a long isn't launched... Trying to localize the problem I've created a simple web site with 'index.html' file only. It works fine under ASP.NET 2.0, but when I switched App Pool to use 4.0 - it stopped to work. When I open web site in browser it shows the following error: Service Unavailable HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable. And causes App pool to stop work also... In the http error 503 the service is unavailable iis 8 system event log in "applications" section I have: The worker process failed to initialize correctly and therefore could not be started. The data is the error. Please advise. Can't find anything related in Google... :( P.S. I have VS2010, Windows Vista x64, last updates installed, VS SP1 is also installed... asp.net asp.net-4.0 share|improve this question edited Jan 14 '13 at 19:22 jrummell 30.6k1275136 asked May 24 '11 at 4:42 Budda 7,5112087156 Can you provide event log information for the error? –bniwredyc May 24 '11 at 4:51 Seems like a configuration problem! –Nauman May 24 '11 at 6:20 Good tip (should do myself). The worker process failed to initialize correctly and therefore could not be started. The data is the error. –Budda May 24 '11 at 6:25 1 Configuration? You mean web.config? But it is absent: I've tried on web site with one index.html file... If you mean something else - please advise. I'm not too strong in configuration area. Thanks a lot in advance –Budda May 24 '11 at 6:26 I mean .NET configuration. Seems like something wrong with the ApplicationPool(s) and their configuration! I faced a similar issue when I tried and installed .NET FW v1.1 on Windows 7 x64. The application pools refused to start. So I have to repair the .NET FW 4.0 and reset everyth

I've got IIS 8 on Windows 8, and I'm trying to set up a little site locally, while doing some development. In IIS I choose Add Site, give a name, points to a location where I have a index.html file (I've tried different locations, latest in a c:\inetpub\wwwroot\test -folder) and otherwise use all default settings. However, when I try to browse to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13322937/iis-http-error-503-the-service-is-unavailable localhost I get "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable." I've verified the pool is started, and I've given IIS_IUSRS Full Control on the target folder I've search around but not found anything that solved my issue, and there's nothing helpfull in the EventLog or in the C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\HTTPERR folder Could anyone tell me what's wrong? Thanks! iis http-error share|improve this question edited Nov 10 '12 at 14:42 asked Nov 10 '12 at 14:33 Andreas 1,32321019 4 Have you checked event viewer for more info? –Webplanet TFS Consulting Nov 11 '12 at 11:06 Hi. The service is unavailable. Sep 06, 2013 09:54 AM|Cahir|LINK Hey guys. I'm trying to perform my first test mvc app deployment. Unfortunately I think I'm missing something. I tried all articles I could get my hands on the internet and result is still the same :/. Here is the configuration I have now on my PC :MVC3 application using .Net 4.0, Visual Studio 2012, IIS 7.5 System: windows 7 64 bit I ll try to go over the steps I made before test launch. 1) Clean, Build, Rebuild Solution 2) Publish -> new profile(HelloWorld)-> connection(location: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\HelloWorld) -> settings (config: realse, all unchecked) 3) created new app pool(.net 4.0 architecture , integrated) 4) Added my web project in IIS (changed port from 80 to 81 cause I read it may be the cause of problems) 5) When I try to browse the app I getHTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable. I'm trying to test everything locally on my computer (also tried on my friends PC) and the result was the same so I'm guessing we do sth wrong :) Do you guys have any idea what my be the cause ? Like I said this is my first MVC app. I want later for the app to be running in an internal network on Windows Server 2008 R2. error503 Reply tdykstra Contributor 3342 Points 655 Posts MicrosoftModerator Re: Fail to deploy first asp .net project - HTTP Error 503.
