AM by Libby H CF8 Upgrade - Scheduled tasks error out Libby H Mar 15, 2008 12:53 PM I just successfully upgraded from CF6 MX to CF8, but am now having problems executing my scheduled tasks. http error 503. the service is unavailable means My environment is Windows 2003 R2 SP2 (32 bit), Access 2000 (I know), IIS6 and CF8 with cumulative hot fix 3. Everything is working well except for my scheduled tasks. It is giving the 'Error while executing task 503 Service Unavailable' error message in the scheduler.log, and the generic list of errors on the scheduled task screen. *The scheduled task is paused *The URL is a redirection URL. *The URL is protected by IIS iis application pool stops 503 NT Challenge/Response or Apache .htaccess password. The Username and *Password text fields for editing a scheduled task are intended to support Basic Authentication only. *The Domain Name lookup failed. Try using the IP address of the domain whenever possible. *The URL is an SSL site, but the SSL port was specified incorrectly. *The Web site is not responding. *The directory specified for published results does not exist. These jobs were converted by the upgrader process, but I have verrified that all the jobs exist in the directory it is pointing to. I am assuming that it might bean issue with the IIS configuration, but am stumpted. Any help is greatly appreciated. Libby 403Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Re: CF8 Upgrade - Scheduled tasks error out Libby H Mar 17, 2008 8:32 AM (in response to Libby H) I was able to get this resolved - it was due to issues with IIS and virtual directories. troubleshoot IIS errors, manage Windows Servers, or tune ASP.NET performance, definitely check out the demo at www.leansentry.com. What is it? This error is generated by the WAS (formerly W3SVC) service, which is responsible for https://forums.adobe.com/thread/249453 creating IIS worker processes to handle incoming http requests. When WAS fails to create a worker process, it will generate this error. Why does it happen? There are a number of reasons why WAS may fail to start an IIS worker process. These include invalid application pool configuration, failure to create the process due to incorrect application pool identity settings, bad IIS configuration that causes the worker process http://mvolo.com/where-did-my-iis7-server-go-troubleshooting-503-quotservice-unavailablequot-errors/ to fail to initialize, or a process crash due to application logic. I will list the most probable reasons and how to investigate / fix them below. How do I get rid of it? Let’s get rid of it in 4 easy steps: STEP 1: Check whether your application pool is stopped Once WAS fails to start your worker process a set number of times, it goes into Rapid Fail Protection Mode and stops the application pool. This prevents application crashes from taking down the machine by going into a start process / fail loop when a persistent error exists. By default, Rapid Fail Protection is set at 5 times in 5 minutes. Once the application pool that contains your application has been stopped, all requests to applications in it will result in that plain 503 error. So, that’s the first thing we check: > %systemroot%windowssystem32inetsrvAppCmd.exe list apppools If your application pool is stopped, then we are on the right track. The next step is to check the event log for information about why your worker process could not be started. STEP 2: Check event log If IIS inside the worker process fails to initialize, or WAS is unable to create the

Nov 12, 2011 02:17 AM|HCamper|LINK Hi, Start with Mike's Trouble Shooting guide http://forums.iis.net/t/1144449.aspx. The first steps are Turn On and Enable "Failed Requests Tracing" guide for ASP Errors http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/565/using-failed-request-tracing-to-troubleshoot-classic-asp-errors/. The use Mike's Guide to track the problems with the Reports directory and code. Common problem is the "Application Pools" http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/624/application-pool-identities/process mode. The solution depends on your fixing the Reports code permissions Application Pool Settings which are leading to the 503 error and failures. You may need to load the Reports code in Visual Studio Web Developer to debug and fix the code f

Currently I have an ColdFusion application that causes server issues. After 1-2 days that serve doesn't respond until a manual restart is done. I know that I had to find what is going wrong in my scripts and I spend time and time for several weeks. But pending I would make a script that restart automatically ColdFusion service if it is bugged. I have not many knowledge in batch script etc.. but I guess that the test would be a request to a .cfm and the response would be serve until a timeout. ? Has anyone ever met a script like this ? You could create a batch file, and create a Scheduled Task in Windows that ran it. Using Net Start / Net Stop Commands net stop "Macromedia JRun CFusion Server" net start "Macromedia JRun CFusion Server" Thought this may not always work so I have a batch file: c:\JRun4\uninstall\KillJRun.exe net start "Macromedia JRun CFusion Server" Which works for me. share|improve this answer edited Jun 20 '11 at 19:34 Aʟ E. 5,33933959 answered Jun 20 '11 at 9:35 BigMadKev 1,25021110 Ok thanks.
