This attempt had rather low memory limit so I will try an ajax http error occurred http result code 504 debugging information follows again later with some 256 MB, but error 500 does not sound like php thing. Plain vanilla Drupal installation has no difficulties. I think it was an issue with permissions on the files directory, since fixing that seemed to solve things (though I have no idea why)... Installed drupal_commons-6.x-1.5 with 32m php limit, got this error. Then changed php mem limit to 256m, install goes smooth. I'd vote for giving a better explained error message than "HTTP 500", but anyway, the requirements sheet says 128m for php, so this issue can also be

Please see any other issues that may be mentioned against the latest version if this is still a problem for anyone.
