interested in deciphering what HTTP status codes mean. Simply put, these are the codes that the Web server uses to communicate with the Web browser or user agent. They are messages that the server returns when processing a request for a Web document. The Importance of HTTP Status CodesSo, why is it important to understand HTTP status codes? If you http 200 ok response can tell them apart, then you will be able to control your Web server with a higher degree of accuracy and effectiveness. These messages include the standard 404 error message for a page not found as well as more obscure messages such as 101 Switching protocols. The codes can be divided into five subject areas: informational status codes, successful status codes, redirection status codes, client error status codes and server error status codes. The following links explain the various error messages in more detail.HTTP Status Codes 100-101 - Informational Status Codes: These messages just relay information. They do not belong to HTTP/1.0, so servers don't respond to these messages. They are provisional responses and browsers may ignore them. continue reading below our video How to Backup Everything HTTP Status Codes 200-206 - Successful Status Codes: The HTTP status messages in the 200 series indicate that the request succeeded. In fact, 200 OK is the most common HTTP status message. This message means the server answered the request. is a list of Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) response status codes. It http code 403 includes codes from IETF internet standards, other IETF RFCs, other specifications, and some additional commonly used codes. The first http code 302 digit of the status code specifies one of five classes of response; an HTTP client must recognise these five classes at a minimum. The phrases used are the standard wordings, http://webdesign.about.com/od/http/a/http_status_codes.htm but any human-readable alternative can be provided. Unless otherwise stated, the status code is part of the HTTP/1.1 standard (RFC 7231).[1] The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) maintains the official registry of HTTP status codes.[2] Microsoft IIS sometimes uses additional decimal sub-codes to provide more specific information,[3] but not all of those are here (note that these sub-codes only appear in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HTTP_status_codes the response payload and in documentation; not in the place of an actual HTTP status code). This class of status code indicates a provisional response, consisting only of the Status-Line and optional headers, and is terminated by an empty line. Since HTTP/1.0 did not define any 1xx status codes, servers must not[note 1] send a 1xx response to an HTTP/1.0 client except under experimental conditions.[4] 100 Continue The server has received the request headers and the client should proceed to send the request body (in the case of a request for which a body needs to be sent; for example, a POST request). Sending a large request body to a server after a request has been rejected for inappropriate headers would be inefficient. To have a server check the request's headers, a client must send Expect:
Articles Code Recommended Most Popular HTTP Status Codes for Beginners All valid HTTP 1.1 Status Codes simply explained. HTTP, Hypertext Transfer Protocol, is the method by which clients (i.e. you) and servers communicate. When someone clicks a link, types in a URL or https://www.addedbytes.com/articles/for-beginners/http-status-codes/ submits out a form, their browser sends a request to a server for information. It might be asking for a page, or sending data, but either way, that is called an HTTP Request. When a server receives that https://books.google.com/books?id=xtVOCwAAQBAJ&pg=PA331&lpg=PA331&dq=http+error+200+eclipse&source=bl&ots=9PHZqzR8Bs&sig=rehynwBrvkxsM6ewPL2wUX0430A&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjMvODnq93PAhVBw2MKHXplAR4Q6AEIXDAI request, it sends back an HTTP Response, with information for the client. Usually, this is invisible, though I'm sure you've seen one of the very common Response codes - 404, indicating a page was not found. There http error are a fair few more status codes sent by servers, and the following is a list of the current ones in HTTP 1.1, along with an explanation of their meanings. A more technical breakdown of HTTP 1.1 status codes and their meanings is available at http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec10.html. There are several versions of HTTP, but currently HTTP 1.1 is the most widely used. Informational 100 - ContinueA status code of 100 indicates that (usually the first) part http error 200 of a request has been received without any problems, and that the rest of the request should now be sent.101 - Switching ProtocolsHTTP 1.1 is just one type of protocol for transferring data on the web, and a status code of 101 indicates that the server is changing to the protocol it defines in the "Upgrade" header it returns to the client. For example, when requesting a page, a browser might receive a statis code of 101, followed by an "Upgrade" header showing that the server is changing to a different version of HTTP. Successful 200 - OKThe 200 status code is by far the most common returned. It means, simply, that the request was received and understood and is being processed.201 - CreatedA 201 status code indicates that a request was successful and as a result, a resource has been created (for example a new page).202 - AcceptedThe status code 202 indicates that server has received and understood the request, and that it has been accepted for processing, although it may not be processed immediately.203 - Non-Authoritative InformationA 203 status code means that the request was received and understood, and that information sent back about the response is from a third party, rather than the original server. This is virtually identical in meaning to a 200 status code.204 - No ContentThe 204 stat
