Embedded tracker giving "HTTP Error 400" message Started by Prospero424, May 22, 2010 8 posts in this topic Prospero424 0 Newbie Members 0 3 posts Posted May 22, 2010 · Report post Hi there. First things first: uTorrent is working perfectly other than for this one problem. I have no problem connecting to external trackers, etc. uTorrent version is latest (2.0.2 as of now). OS is Windows Server 2003 with built-in firewall disabled. Software firewall (Outpost Firewall Pro Version 4) is configured to "allow all" for uTorrent. Gateway router is Linksys 54g running Tomato firmware. This server sits in the router's DMZ and NAT loopback is enabled. My uTorrent client is reachable from external IPs and passes all connectivity tests. Listening port is set to 11111. Problem: I enabled the embedded tracker in uTorrent through the advanced options, restarted the client, then created a new torrent for a personal file requested by a friend. I entered "http://(my external IP):11111/announce" as the tracker, then created and saved the torrent. When the torrent appeared in the transfers window as seeding began, the indicator immediately switched to the upward red arrow symbol and the message "HTTP Error 400" was reported in the tracker status field.Additional network info: This server has two Ethernet adapters installed, both connected directly to the gateway router. One of them (192.168.1.108) communicates only with the WAN (local file/printer sharing is disabled) and sits in the gateway router's DMZ. The other (192.168.1.101) communicates only with the LAN (does not route through the gateway). I have tried manually setting "net.bind_ip" and "net.outgoing_ip" in uTorrent's advanced options both to 192.168.1.108, but this does nothing.Update: the private tracker works fine in uTorrent on another computer on my WLAN running Windows 7 that is a wireless client rather than wired Ethernet like the server, but I'm not able to run this computer for lo

Hints and Tips Overview Tracker and BiTorrent error messages Achieving optimum download speeds http://www.bittorrentguide.co.uk/bittorrent-help/q-a/ Is downloading with BitTorrent safe? Overview By its nature, BitTorrent can be https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=939152 unpredictable! Torrents are only "alive" for as long as someone else is seeding the file, if no one is seeding then it might be "dead". Sometimes you wont know if it's alive or dead until you've tried to download the file; sometimes you can see how many seeds or http error peers a torrent has before you download. If you are able to see the stats, the higher number of seeds and peers there are the better. The main thing to understand is that downloading and uploading torrents can take a bit longer than other P2P networks and it may take a while to get going. Just because you aren't getting lightning speeds http error 400 or things aren't happening as you might expect, it doesn't mean there are problems. Just give it some time and see what happens. Back To Top Tracker and BitTorrent error messages Trackers can also be unpredictable. They sometimes experience very heavy load and because of this the connection to them may be lost or not gained temporarily. If you think the torrent is active but your client is telling you otherwise, it's probably a tracker issue. Just give it a bit of time to see if it sorts itself out first of all. If your client has problems connecting, it will keep on retrying over and over again. Just give it time. If you have given it time or you are getting error messages then have a look at the common BitTorrent error messages seen below for a possible solution.
