However, without knowingly changing anything relevant every request, even to my homecontroller (which doesn't have any authorization attributes etc). I've taken all the entries out of the web.config for now relating to authorization, and I've check the applicationhost.config which has the following:

Join them; it only takes a minute: Sign up HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized You are not http error authorized to view this page due to invalid authentication headers up vote 5 down vote favorite i want to allow access to Anonymous.aspx page to all user, i have set Basic Authentication to Enabled, and Connect as to specific user. my problem is when trying to access http://MyIPAddress/MyAlias/Anonymous.aspx, authentication popup appears--ideally it shouldn't, and when i close popup, getting 401.2 Unauthorized error--it's obvious Error Summary HTTP Error http error 401.2 401.2 - Unauthorized You are not authorized to view this page due to invalid authentication headers. Logon Method Not yet determined Module:IIS Web Core Logon User Not yet determined Notification:Authentication Request Error Code 0x80070005 Most likely causes: •No authentication protocol (including anonymous) is selected in IIS. •Only integrated authentication is enabled, and a client browser was used that does not support integrated authentication. •Integrated authentication is enabled and the request was sent through a proxy that changed the authentication headers before they reach the Web server. •The Web server is not configured for anonymous access and a required authorization header was not received. •The "configuration/system.webServer/authorization" configuration section may be explicitly denying the user access.
