Users encountered this problem last week and I found the cause to be the Inetpub\wwwroot folder was https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/906474 denying write rights to the "IUSR_MachineName" user. Thanks to the following http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812614/ article. However, today the user has encountered the problem again. Yesterday, users were being prompted for a user name and password when they were trying out the functionality, but today the users are back to the401.5 error page. The functionality the user is trying to enable involves exporting a document to word. This works fine on their Test and reporting https://forums.iis.net/t/1083690.aspx?Http+error+401+5 sites, just not on their live site. I tried granting full rights to the "IUSER_MachineName" on the Inetpub\wwwroot folder, but that did nto resolve the problem. I am at a loss as to where to go from here. I have downloaded Filemon to try and analyse the behaviour on the test site, but not quite sure what I should be looking for. Any help or guidance wouldbeVERY much appreciated! Thanks Reply steve schofi... 5631 Posts MVPModerator Re: Http error 401.5 Mar 17, 2007 12:30 PM|steve schofield|LINK When you run filemon, use the search function inside the tool. Also look in the event logs to see what users are being denied. Make sure you have failure "object access" enabled on the local security policy. This option will log failures to the security event log. I was able to resolve the problem by adding the "Everybody" group to the application folder. Questions about Sage CRM IIS Auto Log-in - HTTP Error 401.5 - Unauthorized This question is not answered Posted by mmalm on 17 Sep 2014 8:24 PM I'm trying to activate the IIS Auto Log-in feature, but I keep getting an HTTP Error 401.5 - Unauthorized error. I'm, using v7.2e Hotfix 3. I've set up a trace to catch the error, but I don't know how to interpret the result: ModuleName IsapiModule Notification 128 HttpStatus 401 HttpReason Unauthorized HttpSubStatus 5 ErrorCode 0 ConfigExceptionInfo Notification EXECUTE_REQUEST_HANDLER ErrorCode The operation completed successfully. (0x0) I've disabled anonymous authentication, enabled windows authentication, and added the correct domain via the interface. I'm not sure what else to check. Any suggestions? All Replies Posted by Robert Hurson on 18 Sep 2014 12:45 PM Hi Matt, Assuming IIS auto-login is enabled in CRM, I'd wonder if it's using cached credentials in the browser? The error you're getting looks like a straightforward "Unauthorized" error. You should be able to see which user is being used to authenticate in the IIS logs under c:\inetpub\logs. It might even be worthwhile clearing your cookies - you can get a few odd issues around old authentication tokens being kept in the cookies. The next thing I'd try is NULLing out the user's stored password on the Users table. I set the user's password to NULL in the database, but this did not resolve the issue. I tried to access the page via the incognito window in Chr
