HTTP Error 401: Unauthorized” while downloading Blackberry app to device up vote 0 down vote favorite After signing and preparing the blackberry application build very properly, I uploaded the build to the server. Now I try to download the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9939286/909-application-authentication-failure-http-error-401-unauthorized-while-dow application through my device using BB external browser. If I click on the link it brings me to the download control, but on clicking the download button it pops up a dialog box telling download failed which further leads to a message:- "909 Application authentication failure. HTTP Error 401: Unauthorized" I tried preparing the build again but it is not helping. Signing process is completed properly. I am using new signing keys as well. blackberry share|improve this question edited Nov 15 '12 at 5:11 asked Mar 30 '12 at 8:16 Shail Adi 1,0372932 you tried via desktop manager ?. –Signare Mar 30 '12 at 8:19 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted It seems like a problem with your server configuration for Over the Air deployment. Are you using Basic authentication for downloads? If that's the case, this thread could help you (see the last answer). share|improve this answer answered Mar 30 '12 at 13:37 Carlos Gav

All sales agents have a Blackberry device, but none can access our Extranet. In IIS, we only have ASP.NET Impersonation and Windows Authentication enabled, but the BB device doesnt even prompt for credentials, it just receives a 401 error. Needless to say, the site is browsable on other devices (PC, tablet, iPhone..), so it seems to be something specific to BB settings - or thats my inclination. Anyone have any http error 401 thoughts on how I can troubleshoot\resolve? 2010 blackberry share|improve this question asked Nov 7 '12 at 22:12 ewitkows 100415 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted OK, found the answer. Blackberry doesnt support Windows Authentication since the browser is too old. I had to turn on Basic Authentication, which isnt recommended unless your running over SSL.. which fortunately I am. Found the answer here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907273 share|improve this answer answered Nov 8 '12 at 21:21 ewitkows 100415 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote first, on IIS, authentication you should to have enabled BASIC AUTHENTICATION, then in the Sharepoint Central Administration go to App managment, then Manage applications. Now you select your website for example (Sharepoint - 80), then you click on Authentication Providers. Now.. in the zone you select DEFAULT, then enable "anonymous access" and Basic Authentication. Enjoy. share|improve this answer answered Jun 21 '13 at 20:15 user17788 1 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
