Expanding on the previous answer. This error has nothing to do with whether you have directory browsing turned on or not. That's just a suggestion. The reason it throws the error is because IIS can't browse to any file. Find a default page in your site that you use for your default page, and use that as your default page in IIS. Control Panel > IIS Manager > click site > click "Default Document" > add that page as your default. share|improve this answer answered Apr 3 '12 at 16:01 MacGyver 8,14818103186 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and

It works on everyone else's machine, however when I try and access localhost/extranet on my machine, it gives me this error: HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden Detail Error Info: Module DirectoryListingModule Notification ExecuteRequestHandler Handler 0x00000000 Requested URL http://localhost:80/extranet/ Physical Path C:\svn\K2\trunk\appteam\web\Chatham.Web.UI.Extranet\ Logon Method Anonymous Logon User Anonymous Now I tried http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7880852/http-error-403-14-forbidden-error-when-accessing-website going into IIS7, and enabling directory browsing, this removed the error, but still didn't bring up my website. I also tried going in and disabling the default document, re-enabling it, everything, nothing worked. I've also restarted IIS a few times to no avail. Any ideas? asp.net .net asp.net-mvc windows-7 iis-7 share|improve this question asked Oct 24 '11 at 19:28 slandau 10.4k2791162 Can you access even a plain HTML document on the site through your browser? –Hector Correa Oct 24 '11 at 19:32 1 You probably just need to give the AppPool user for your website access to that directory. I searched internet a lot to find the exact issue and the solution that I found is to enable "Directory Listing" for the web site, similar guidance will be shown on the error page itself, but http error 403.14 it is not recommended for security reasons. So to fix this issue, the easiest and best way is to add the default page or document that IIS should look while you click on browse or F5 from Visual Studio. 1. Open IIS (Type InetMgr) 2. Go to the WebSite you are facing the issue 3. Click on Default Document Button, you will find it on the right side tab in IIS. 4. You can see a list of default documents, but your default page (aspx file) is not mentioned here and that is causing the issue. 5. Add your file here. (For example: Login.aspx) You can also add the following entry into the web.config:
