If another forum would be better for this, then I apologize and a mod can move it. I am currently trying to implement the ATOM API on the server side. One of the requests that ATOM handles are HTTP PUT verbs. However, whenever I make a client side PUT request, the server always returns 403. When I set a breakpoint on the server side, it never gets hit. I'm running IIS 5.1 on my machine. Here is what I've tried so far: I go to: IIS->default web site->properties->home directory->Configuration From there I click .ashx, edit, and make sure PUT is one of the verbs (I am using a .ashx file to handle requests). Then I go to IIS->default web site->properties->edit global configuration->authorization Sure enough, it allows all verbs. keep in mind, the ATOM PUT requests do not physically touch any files on the filesystem. So it shouldn't be a permissions error (or is it?). The Put request is made to a uri, of course it doesnt correspond to an actual file, but then my code does what it needs to do. any ideas? thanks guys. #1 fishjie, Aug 30, 2007 ahurtt Diamond Member Joined: Feb 1, 2001 Messages: 4,283 Likes Received: 0 I do believe you will need to set Write permissions at the file system level for the directory that corresponds to the URI for which you want to do the PUT. 403 HTTP status == forbidden access. I also found a post saying: You have to grant both of these: * write permission to the virtual directory in IIS (i.e. the permission for HTTP PU

takes a few minutes. Join Now Hello, so in IIS 6.0 I created a virtual directory and pointed the location to a web site I designed in visual studios. The https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/145321-http-error-403-forbidden-help-with-iis-please path is located in: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot. I'm trying to figure out why when I access the website I get a HTTP Error 403 Forbidden message. Most likely causes are that this webside requires a login. I searched google and am striking out thus far. Normal shake and bake as to how we are setup. AD and a windows environment. Anyone have any pointers for me as to how http error to get this website up and running? Thanks in advance! 0 http error 403 Tabasco OP Bluedevil58 Jun 28, 2011 at 8:49 UTC Thanks it was somehting simple and stupid on my part. In the documents tab it was mot reading default.aspx but only default.asp. So I had to add in default.aspx and hit apply and BAM! Works now. Of course the head SA came over and fixed the problem in order 2 minutes. Made me look like a complete and I wasted 3-4 hours trying to figure this out. 0 This discussion has been inactive for over a year.
