the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now Hello, so in IIS 6.0 I created a virtual directory and pointed the location to a web site I designed in visual studios. The path is located in: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot. I'm trying to figure out why when I access the website I get a HTTP Error 403 Forbidden message. Most likely causes are that this webside requires a login. I searched google and am striking out thus far. Normal shake and bake as to how we are setup. AD and a windows environment. Anyone have any pointers for me as to how to get this website up and running? Thanks in advance! 0 Tabasco OP Bluedevil58 Jun 28, 2011 at 8:49 UTC Thanks it was somehting simple and stupid on my part. In the documents tab it was mot reading default.aspx https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/145321-http-error-403-forbidden-help-with-iis-please but only default.asp. So I had to add in default.aspx and hit apply and BAM! Works now. Of course the head SA came over and fixed the problem in order 2 minutes. Made me look like a complete and I wasted 3-4 hours trying to figure this out. 0 This discussion has been inactive for over a year. I have developed a small application which will grow in the future using DNN on my local developer machine (Server 2003, IIS6). Everything from installation, configuration till developing went fine. Now we need to install it on the test server to start our testing sequence before release. The test server is the same environment as my developing machine (server 2003 with IIS6).I performed exact the same steps as I did on my machine (unzipping the install file, creating new web site in IIS, set NETWORK SERVICE user and permissions, Default.aspx as home...)Yet when I try to access it, I get following error: The website declined to show this webpage HTTP 403 Most likely causes: This website requires you to log in. What you can try: Go back to the previous page. More information This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that this program was able
