It's up and running and I'm able to access HDFS through command line and run the jobs and I'm able to see the output. But I am not able to browse the file system using UI provide by Hadoop. http://namenode:50070/dfshealth.jsp.. it shows version and cluster status.. When i click on browse filesystem its not showing anything. Is there any issue with this? I'm able to list the contents using hdfs shell commands, and In Cluster mode it's working fine. Only in distributed mode I'm not able to browse the file system.. any inputs on this is appreciated. I have installed hadoop1.0.0 in psudodistributed mode too, and facing the same problem. hadoop share|improve this question edited Jan 19 '12 at 13:26 Brissles 3,2151527 asked Jan 19 '12 at 12:11 MRK 2451618 Typically this stems from dns or hostname setup problems either with your dns not being able to see other nodes or with incorrect values in the hadoop config files. –Steve Jan 19 '12 at 17:21 HI, Its on single node and same node name is provided in config files. I am able access HDFS through commandline.. –MRK Jan 20 '12 at 4:49 Is there any error at all, like a 404? –Steve Jan 20 '12 at 5:15 No, just blank page.. not showing anything. –MRK Jan 20 '12 at 5:25 am seeing a thread in forms.. hadoop-common.472056.n3.nabble.com/….. show up anything.I am running pseudo mode configuration. One of the temporary solution which i found online was to format dfs again but this is very frustrating. Also inhttp://localhost:50030/jobtracker.jspJobtracker history i get the following messageHTTP ERROR 500Problem accessing /jobhistoryhome.jsp. Reason:INTERNAL_SERVER_ERRORhttp://localhost:50030/jobhistoryhome.jspI see similar problem was also observed herehttp://grokbase.com/p/hadoop/common-user/10383vj1gn/namenode-problemSolutionIf you see carefully the log of namenodeWe have http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8925805/namenode-ui-browse-file-system-not-working-in-psedo-distributed-mode error asorg.apache.hadoop.hdfs.server.common.InconsistentFSStateException: Directory /tmp/hadoop-hadoop/dfs/name is in an inconsistent state: storage directory does not exist or is not accessible. This says that following variables are not properly setNormally this is due to the machine having been rebooted and /tmp http://jugnu-life.blogspot.com/2012/03/httplocalhost50070dfshealthjsp-crash.html being cleared out. You do not want to leave the Hadoop name node or data node storage in /tmp for this reason. Make sure you properly configure dfs.name.dir and dfs.data.dir to point to directories outside of /tmp and other directories that may be cleared on boot. The quick setup guide is really just to help you start experimenting with Hadoop. For setting up a cluster for any real use, you'll want to follow the next guide - Cluster Setup - http://hadoop.apache.org/common/docs/current/cluster_setup.htmlSo here is what i did in hadoop-site.xml added the following two properties and now its working fine

Make sure the war directly that the file is in is also the war directly that gets used.
