issue has been seen in Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, using Internet Information System (IIS) as the Web Server, and in other applications running simultaneously with an accessed MicroStrategy Web page. For instance, a scanning program such as McAfee Virus Scan, could be running a http error 503 the service is unavailable application pool stopped check over the files in the web server. This process may interfere with the Web Server and cause it to report a reinitialization. WORKAROUND: Verify that no other application is running in addition to MicroStrategy Web at the time the error is reported. If another application is running, exit that application. Users should either disable the virus scanner or set the program to run during hours that do not conflict with the use of MicroStrategy Web. If the error appears after exiting the application that caused the interference, reset Microsoft IIS. Did this article solve your problem? Yes No (44 Views) TN4965: ’Page cannot be displayed. In my experience, if the event log is empty than the request wasn't correctly routed to the worker process. In one of our recent deployments we saw the app work intermittently with about 50% of the requests randomly failing with the 500 error and nothing in the logs. I suspect something is going wrong with the AppDomain unload that occurs after deployment. Out of curiosity, are you running antivirus in your production environment? Does an IIS reset solve the issue (until the next deployment)? –ShadowChaser Feb 21 '13 at 16:17 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 23 down vote accepted Take a look at IIS7's Failed Request Tracing feature: Troubleshooting Failed Requests Using Tracing in IIS 7 Troubleshoot with Failed Request Tracing The other thing I would do is tweak your

I've got IIS 8 on Windows 8, and I'm trying to set up a little site locally, while doing some development. In IIS I choose Add Site, give a name, points to a location where I have a the service is index.html file (I've tried different locations, latest in a c:\inetpub\wwwroot\test -folder) and otherwise use all default settings. However, when I try to browse to localhost I get "HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable." I've verified the pool is started, and I've given IIS_IUSRS Full Control on the target folder I've search around but not found anything that solved my issue, and there's nothing helpfull in the EventLog or in the C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\HTTPERR folder Could anyone tell me what's wrong? By default, the log files are created in the directories daily, and the log files are named by using the date. For example, a log file may be named as follows: exYYMMDD.log Common HTTP status codes and the causes The causes of some common HTTP status codes are as follows: · 200 - OK. IIS 7.0 successfully processed the request. · 304 - Not modified. The client browser requests a document that is already in the cache, and the document has not been modified since the document was cached. The client browser uses the cached copy of the document instead of downloading the document from the server. · 400 - Bad request. The Http.sys file blocks IIS 7.0 from processing the request because of a problem in the request. Typically, this HTTP status code means that the request contains characters or sequences that are not valid or that the request contradicts the security settings in the Http.sys file. · 401.1 - Logon failed. The logon attempt is unsuccessful probably because of a user name or a password that is not valid.
